Tshirt quilts are one of my favorite things to create!! They make great graduation manskin-tone-2mortar_board gifts for your children or grandchildren!! Now is the time to get those orders in for a June open house party tada
This customer had a dark purple dress and needed the quilt to cater to a woodland nursery for a baby boy. It took a couple tries but we found this amazing combination of colors and fabrics! I always say "Where there is a will, there's a way!"

About

The home of upcycled and repurposed quilts and related items

Growing up my mom was always coming up with the most resourceful ways to use everyday items for new projects. She also did a lot of sewing for us girls and I remember twirling around in my fancy new handmade dresses and feeling like a princess! fast forward 20 years from then and I have discovered that I inherited that creative resourcefulness from her. It all began when I started using my talent to come up with crafts for my step daughter.

I was inspired to start marketing these items when I realized that there is a huge push for repurposed and upcycled products. People are becoming more resourceful and more creative, and in turn, desire products that reflect these values. I dabbled in many different ways to achieve this goal, looking for the perfect product that really made my heart happy.

I stumbled upon quilting in 2014 when a friend absent mindedly made a remark about his tshirt collection and his struggle with deciding what to do with it. I remembered seeing a concept for a quilt made of tshirts and offered my services to him. The rest was history!

Tshirt quilts are my best selling product! I also make quilts from other clothing items such as Bridesmaids dresses and baby clothing items! I have since expanded my product line to pot holders, stuffed animals, pillows and more! The application of this process is so versatile, the sky is the limit! I absolutely love what I do <3

Recently, I discovered that Kansas City, my home, was a major hub for the Human Trafficking Industry. Many people are unaware that slavery is even an issue in today's world, but it is, and it's right in our backyard. So here I am, working on a product line for my little shop and in turn would like to work toward making the world a better and safer place for everyone! My hope is to partner with local anti-human trafficking organizations and getting more personally involved in local awareness efforts. I would love to see my business grow enough to effect a change in awareness and active prevention among youth and teens everywhere. Please help me and my shop meet this goal! 10% of the proceeds from sales will be donated to a local (US based) anti-human trafficking organization!

Frequently asked questions

Care instructions for your new Quilt

Handmade quilts should always be washed before use. Wash on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent and color absorbing towelettes (this will help keep colors from bleeding) in cold water. It is preferred to lay the quilt flat to dry or dry it on a clothes line. Drying it in a tumble dryer can cause shrinking and/or distortion to the different fabrics used in the quilt. If you have upcycled a formal dress made from delicate materials, it should be dry cleaned instead of machine washed.

Available Quilt Sizes

I can create a personalized quilt made just for you or your loved ones! I can accommodate the following sizes:

Twin 40x72"
Throw 50x60"
Crib/Baby Quilt or Lap Quilt 30x50"
Cuddle 30x30"
Wall hanging 16x20"
Mini's 6x8"

Sizes are approximate and can vary some depending on the items that are provided to me, pattern choice and other circumstances.

What is included in the price of a quilt?

Expenses may include:
-A published piecing pattern
-Fabric to cover the front and back of the quilt
-Stabilizers keep fabrics from stretching or shifting during construction and life of the quilt
-Batting is the core of a good quilt
-The edges of a quilt are covered by a binding
-Large amounts of thread are used to stitch, piece, quilt and bind
-Cutting and sewing fabric dulls the blades of scissors, rotary cutters, and the points of sewing machine needles, manual needles and pins which need to replaced periodically
-Wear and tear occurs on many tools like the sewing machine, templates, quilting rulers, iron, and cutting mat
-Countless hours are spent researching, calculating, constructing, and learning new techniques daily

Custom and Personalized Quilt Orders

Most of my quilts are custom or made-to-order which means that I will be working with you to make decisions about many details. It's normal to have many questions about what the steps are in the process such as choosing the right fabrics, finding the perfect matching color combinations, and what the heck is a binding anyway? Not to worry! Even though there are innumerable options available I will narrow that down for you! I typically give you a few options that work best for your specific order to choose from! If you are ever confused about a decision or detail I will be happy to explain what it is and what purpose it serves in your quilt. We will tackle each detail one at a time together!

Turn Around Time for Quilt Orders

Turn around time begins once all the materials have been gathered or received. Smaller quilts may take a week to complete. The largest of quilts can take 3-4 weeks or more depending on details like more intricate piecing patterns or the purchase of add-on services such as professional Long Arm Quilting or Machine Embroidery. If you would like to place an order and I have other orders ahead of you, I will always let you know what you wait time is and how many orders are ahead of you. My shop typically maintains 5 open orders. I always encourage clients to purchase their order as soon as possible to ensure that you get a slot in my pending order queue. Custom slots for the month fill up quickly as quilts do require several hours of labor.
