Photos do not do this item justice. Thank you for the nice basket. It will look great in my new place.
From QUILT MAKER to BASKET CASE
STUDIO 55 was born in 1992. In the beginning, I made quilts on commission. Next came designing quilt patterns and teaching in a local quilt shop, followed by vending and teaching at major quilt shows in the New England area for over 20 years.
When I stopped participating in quilt shows in 2013, the big question was what to do with all the leftover fabrics. "Coiled Fabric Creations" was the answer.
In June 2013, I began making baskets, placemats, coasters, trivets and anything that could be made with just clothesline and fabric. I wrap yards of clothesline with strips of fabric, then coil, shape and sew it all together on my sewing machine. Very time consuming, but oh, so much fun.
In August of 2013 I took my "Coiled Fabric Creations" on the road. The response at local Farmers Markets and Craft Shows has been overwhelming and keeps me motivated to come up with an endless variety of new designs and shapes.
While I do all the work, my cat Coco supervises and tests the strength of fabric strips and clothesline. We love each other’s company and this arrangement is perfect for us.
In addition to coiled baskets, mats, trivets and coasters, I create small pillows, wall quilts and note cards for you to enjoy:
and offer quilting supplies so that you can create your own piece of art:

Coco is a rescued cat. He was abandoned on the streets in Brooklyn, NY and came into my life when I needed some love and affection. We are best friends. Although he oversees my studio, he knows not to interfere when I am working
