About

A little bit of heaven to wear here on earth!

I have always enjoyed making jewelry. Even as a little girl I tied clover blossoms together to make necklaces, followed by gum wrapper chains and then seed bead daisy necklaces! Nature inspires me greatly as I feel so much closer to God out in nature. When I see a special stone or leaf or an animal makes eye contact with me I feel like God is touching me. It is such a special peaceful, centering experience. That is what I try to give to others in the jewelry that I make.
Besides my childhood attempts at jewelry making, I began to make beaded jewelry after I took my boys when they were young to a bead shop in town. We all made necklaces and I was hooked. I stated "I wish I owned this many beads!". Now I pretty much do! But the wire work just wasn't enough.
My next foray was glass fusing. This is where you take glass cut from sheets of compatible glass and melt (fuse) them together in a kiln. I love how you can't control glass: you can only work with it in tandem-it likes to have it's say. When I was introduced to dichroic glass (glass with a metal coating put on by lasers in a vacuum sealed chamber) the raccoon in me was hooked! I love opals but they are expensive! So I try to emulate boulder opals in my dichroic glass work. Making jewelry with them was fun but I didn't have the skills I needed to make what I dreamed of.
So thus began my journey in metalsmithing jewelry classes . Here I began to learn how to cut and saw metals and then to solder them into wonderful pieces of jewelry. After I got good enough I gave myself permission to use gemstones, rocks, gold, etc instead of just my glass. What fun!
I continue to take classes in person and online or by books and magazines. The sky's the limit for me now! I feel that making jewelry is like taking the natural elements God has given us and making them into a little piece of heaven for you to wear here on earth. Enjoy and God bless us all!

My husband Bob, calls me his raccoon and he is SO right! I am drawn to anything bright, colorful or shiny. But I like to think that I am a refined raccoon that is drawn to QUALITY bright, colorful or shiny items!!
