About

Artist. Designer. Dreamer.

I have always loved to create (just ask my mom who suffered through me taking things apart to make new, exciting creations). Very recently I decided to leave my full time day job of 8 years to be a studio artist. I plan to bring a lot more whimsical color to the world as I work full time in my own studio!

I feel blessed to have some very diverse talents including graphic design, illustration and designing jewelry, but creating a piece of pottery from a lump of clay is an amazing feeling and one of my favorite processes. I earned my BFA in Ceramics from the University of Louisville, although that was not my intention at all. I chose UofL for their engineering program and after 3 years in engineering school I knew I needed a more creative lifestyle. I took intro to clay as an elective, but was hooked as soon as I sat at the potter's wheel. I was destined to work with dirt... just not as a civil engineer! Through my education my ceramic work has included majolica, gas reduction, and atmospheric firings, but my love of saturated color and bold pattern has led me to work with a low fire earthenware and sgraffito carving process.

I also began working with metal clay a few years ago and I feel like an alchemist when a piece of silver is pulled out of the kiln. I always seek new challenges and am developing a line of enameled jewelry as well.

When I'm not at the potter's wheel or at my jeweler's bench you can find me at my computer doing freelance graphic design work!

Seeing someone else find joy in my work is always the highlight of the process for me. When something I created can brighten a person's day it means I'm doing my job as an artist well. Follow me on Instagram for a peek of my creative process! @studiodibeneditto
