My name is Mina, I am Japanese milliner and clothing designer behind of "Grosgrain". By collaborating with Japanese artisans, it is my passion to create and introduce beautiful straw hats made of authentic high-quality natural materials. They are beautiful and very comfortable to wear, and most of all, ethical and durable for decades. I have confidence in my products, they are modern, simple and sophisticated something you hardly find in mass production.

All of the hats are designed originally by Mina Maeda and professionally crafted by me & Japanese artisans.

I also make felt hats, fascinators, and headbands as well. If you are looking for something special, please do not hesitate to send me an inquiry.

    Sophisticated hat by Japanese artisan.

    I would like to introduce you to my original designer hat collection "Grosgrain".

    I started "Grosgrain" shop officially 2011. At first, I wanted simple wide brim straw hat and looked for it but I couldn't find any as I wished. So, I started to make it with Japanese traditional artisan of straw hats for 4th generation. These hats are made with the highest quality standards by Japanese craftsmanship.
    I would like to preserve the classic technique of hat making, as it is disappearing in our world due to mass production. Using only high quality materials, and creating sophisticated shape with modern touch. Also I am collecting vintage grosgrain ribbon to add uniqueness and whimsical mood to the style.

    Like a favorite hat you wore all day long during your childhood, it would truly be my pleasure if my Grosgrain hat could be a favorite and long lasting item in your wardrobe.

    I gladly accept returns, exchanges, and cancellations
    Contact me within: 14 days of delivery
    Ship items back within: 30 days of delivery
    Request a cancellation within: 2 days of purchase
    The following items can't be returned or exchanged
    Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
    • Custom or personalized orders
    • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
    • Digital downloads
    • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)

    Returns and exchange details
    Please understand before ordering Grosgrain’s hats, these straw hat are made of hand-woven natural straw, and all the pieces are crafted uniquely. Natural straw usually has slight colour difference among them, as well as slight unevenness. I hope you would enjoy the characteristic of hand-crafted hats, using natural materials.

    I will certainly refund you if you are not satisfied with what you received, however the returning fee to Japan will be yours, unless the hat is obviously wrong from what you ordered, or damaged by shipping.

    I cannot accept exchange the hat because of its nature characteristic, because it will be very difficult for us to make one without any characteristic (such as colour difference, or slight unevenness of the woven), and I do not think other hat would satisfy you either.

    If size wasn't fit you, the hats are returnable. However, in that case you would have to send me back to Japan for refund, and those shipping cost would be yours.

    I would like you to satisfy with my hats, so please be careful to chose the size. If you have any question, please convo me in advance any time!!
    Payment
    The payment is required at the checking out.
    Shipping
    I usually ship items in one week from the payment. I will send all items by EMS from Japan, and some of them from Australia by Australian Post.

    EMS by Japanese postal service is the fastest way to deliver and offers tracking system.
    About 5days to 7days to deliver to the US. Asia pacific area, the shipping arrives even quicker, thanks to EMS. However, for European countries, it takes a little longer, and it usually takes 10 to 14 days.

    All hats will be shipped wrapped with a bag and safely packaged by box and packaging materials, with no crushing.

    I am looking for retailers outside Japan. If you are interested in to sell my products in your brick and mortal shop, please feel free to contact me.
