I started out working with traditional leaded stained glass, creating windows, lamps and hanging art work. Literally I purchased a book "learn stained glass in 30 minutes". I read the book, torn apart some storm windows for the glass, bought some stained glass scraps and a soldering iron and glass cutter, and I was off and running. But, for years I wanted to work with fused glass and always said someday I'm going to buy a kiln. When I retired from my job in 2010 I bought that kiln. I can remember the first piece of fused glass I pulled out of my kiln, I was so excited I had to call my girlfriend "the glass stuck together, the glass tuck together, it really worked". Well I have come a long way since then.

Everywhere I go people ask me "How do you do that". My work is an eclectic mix of techniques I have learned over the years. I cut sheets of glass up, stack, fire, cut, grind and fire again; then adding paints, mica powders, powder glass, bits and pieces of glass, metals, decals, enamels, wire, copper sheeting and even organic materials like leaves. Living in northwest Montana I have a 70 mile drive to the nearest shopping, excluding groceries and gas. Because we are in such a rural area I have had to rely on the internet and books to teach myself how to work with fused glass. There was a real learning curve, I have buckets of mistakes to prove it.

My husband and I live on a ranch in the Trout Creek, Montana area, we raise beef cattle and hay. I have four horses and do lots of trail riding, Mattie my studio assistant is also my trail riding buddy. In my spare time I ride Dressage and I show my warmblood mare Lily.
