The journey to Magnolia Script has been winding, but steadfast. I have been practicing various forms of calligraphy and hand lettering dating back to childhood. When I was young I practiced with broad nib pens that had been gifted to me. Fast forward through a fine art undergraduate degree in painting and printmaking, time spent in the fiber art studio playing with handmade papers, beating abaca pulp during spare hours as a post-graduate studio assistant, creating hand printed textiles as a side hustle, the completion of a masters degree in occupational therapy. And I consistently found myself returning to creative outlets. The opportunity came for me to place intense focus on pursuing it more consistently and Magnolia Script became reality as I poured myself into deliberate study of pointed pen calligraphy.

I have loved everything about it; from studying old-world steel nibs as a child, to feeling and writing on nubby, deckled handmade papers that are luxurious and tactile to work with. I hope that the joy and sense of timelessness that I feel when I make something visually beautiful through the art of calligraphy is translated into my work when creating with you.
