    Owner, Maker

Hi, I live in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia. When I can, I spend time at the other end of the state, at my beach shack, on the Tasman Peninsula. I adore Japanese fabrics and I am on a mission to sew a lot more than I have the last few years.

Shop policies

Last updated on May 22, 2013
Welcome to Sugoi07, my online shop. In regard to the kimono fabric lengths I sell, which are selvege to selvege widths, unless otherwise stated, these pieces come from used Japanese kimono or Japanese haori (a short over-kimono 'jacket', worn open). Most of the fabrics I sell come from the 1960's and 1970's. These decades were glorious years in silk fabric manufacture (to my eyes and hands, at least). These fabrics may have some stains or discolourations on them. I try to note them and photograph them for you. These silk fabrics have lots of life in them yet. I have made tops, skirts, bags and quilts from these fabrics. I absolutely adore using them and the colours and pattern designs constantly enthral me.

Accepted payment methods

Payment
I shall send your items after I have received confirmation a payment is made. If you wish to purchase more than one item at a time, I combine postage for you. If I find when I get to the Post Office there is a cheaper method of sending your items to you, (but not at the expense of a huge time delay), I shall choose the most economical for you.

Overpaid postage is refunded to you, via Paypal.
Shipping
I aim to post your item within 3 days of your purchase order. If I am away from home I'll message you to let you know of a known delay.

Postage is for airmail. If you require your items more speedily, please contact me and we will arrange it. There is no insurance or tracking on items posted normal airmail.
Refunds and Exchanges
I try not to put up photographs of fabric which I believe is distinctly different from what I am seeing. That said, each monitor is different. My feeling is that if you really like the look of a piece on the screen, you will like it even more when you see it with your own eyes. That's generally been my experience. I am finding black fabric really hard to photograph because so often it looks really washed out, which is not the case when I am looking at it.

However, if you believe a piece of fabric is way different to what you sincerely believed, contact me and we shall arrange a return of the fabric and a refund.
Please remember there is a very high chance you are purchasing a piece of previously used fabric. Therefore, it may have marks or flaws which are thirty years old or more, on it. Remember, each kimono is unique, that is, it is a one-off. You will never see the same kimono twice (in regard to vintage kimono, at least).
Additional policies and FAQs
Over the past few years I have had many requests from face-to-face shoppers visiting Tasmania and finding my stall at the market, to go online. I have met so many wonderful people from around the world at either Evandale market, Deloraine market or special events such as the National Pennyfarthing Fair. Thank you for your enthusiasm and encouragement to take my stall online.
