About

Earth-Friendly Wares for the Bohemian at Heart.

I opened Sunday French Toast in August 2011, when I realized that if I kept creating pieces solely for myself and my immediate friends, my apartment would soon be so full of my creations that there would be no space left for me to live in!
I work out of my apartment in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida, transforming my living room into an eclectic workspace whenever I get a beam of inspiration.

Almost all of my supplies are either organic or recycled fibers, or they are vintage materials, upcycled into something new and fresh.

My work is inspired by new people and new experiences, as well as by old stories my parents have shared with me about their own youthful adventures. I am always seeking to create unique combinations of color, shape and texture.

I love to travel and I never come home the same. I think experiencing other cultures is the best prescription for a closed mind, fear, or indifference.

Native North and South American cultures and nature-based spirituality have long been sources of calm, understanding, and great awe and inspiration for me since I was a little girl and they are payed deference to in my creations.

I also have a special place in my heart for whimsy, suspending reality and letting one’s innocent belief in imagination take over, so that pops up in my designs occasionally too ;)

What's in a name...
The name "Sunday French Toast" comes from one of my most cozy, happy memories from childhood, when my dad would make me and my mom the most delicious french toast for breakfast on Sunday mornings. I can still feel myself in our kitchen watching and helping him, with Neil Young's 'Harvest Moon' playing in the background, my dad occasionally picking up the lyrics and singing along...

I have a lot of fun with what I do, and I put a lot of love into each piece.
I hope you enjoy!

I received my BA in Anthropology/Environmental Science and Spanish Language, having previously danced professionally with Houston Ballet and the Estonian Ballet. Creating has always been a part of me. I've been doing it for as long as I can remember.

Ryan received his BA in Anthropology from the Univ. of South Florida in Dec. 2011. A firefighter/paramedic by day, he is also a musician, my partner in all things, and our resident photographer. He makes a darn good male model, too.

I am inspired by cultures other than my own, new people, new experiences, the wind, the earth – soil – rocks, compassion, color and pattern, texture, and rockin' music.

While some of the things in this store are simply vintage treasurers I've found, most I've made by hand, almost exclusively from previously vintage or recycled materials. Environmental consciousness is very important to me and I strive to incorporate planet-healthy practices in all of the work you see here. That's one of the things I like about using old pieces to make something new – no virgin materials need be produced, especially when it comes to animal products, like leather and feathers. Packaging for shipments is also from recycled materials. I model most of the pieces myself, and they are lovingly photographed by my incredibly supportive husband, Ryan Mitchell :) (You can view and purchase his work from our travels together at thetravelingstach.smugmug.com)

I have a lot of fun with what I do, and I put a lot of love into each piece.
I hope you enjoy!

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
Accepted payment method is through PayPal or with any major credit card through direct checkout on Etsy. Items are shipped after payment has cleared. 7% sales tax is included for Florida residents.

In some cases, I am able to offer payment plans which would allow you split the cost of an item into multiple payments. Please convo me if you are interested in this service. In the case that we do set up a payment plan for you, the date by which the entire cost is to be paid in full must be determined and a non-refundable deposit will be required (usually the cost of the first payment). This covers the cost to me of having an item unavailable to other shoppers should you not complete your payment plan in full by the decided upon date. If the full cost of the item is not paid by the date we have decided upon, you will not get your initial deposit back and the item will be re-listed as available to the public (no longer reserved for you).
*All of my items are one of a kind; the retainment of these fees allows me to cover the costs I incur by not being able to have them available to other shoppers during the time they are reserved for you, in the event that you do not pay on time*

CUSTOM ORDER PAYMENT POLICY:

I require an initial, non-refundable deposit to get started on your order (usually $50.00, unless the total cost of the custom item will be less than $50.00). Once the design is completed (usually within 1-2 weeks of receiving your down payment), I will notify you and send you a link to the final product with the remaining cost. I will ship your custom piece within 1-3 business days once that final payment has gone through. **Final payment MUST be received by the pre-determined date that you and I have decided on (usually within 1 month of initial payment). If no date is decided upon, that date will default to 1 month from the day of your first payment. In the case that you are unable to pay by this day, your item will go on sale to the public and your $50.00 deposit will NOT be refunded.

SENDING YOUR OWN BOOTS IN TO BE UPCYCLED:

First off, please be aware that once your boots are sent in, they will be unable to be worn as regular tall cowboy boots again. The embellishments are permanent and the shaft will be cut in order to fold the boot down.

I require an initial $50.00 deposit. Then you will need to send in your own pair of cowboy boots within 10 days after the completion of the down payment to the address provided. I can not start working on your boots until I receive both the down payment and the boots.

This $50 deposit will be deducted from the $125 total, leaving a remaining balance of $75 plus shipping, upon completion of the design. The finished boots will be shipped back to you within 1-3 business days after the remaining total has been paid. This payment must be taken care of within 1 month of notification of completion of the design. Once I have completed work on your boots (which includes significant alteration to the original boot, new materials, time and labor), they will be an entirely reworked product of my design. Due to this fact, if the remaining $75 payment is not received within that 1 month time frame, your initial $50 deposit will be kept and the boots will be resold.

To ensure your boots will work with this design please check to make sure they are:
- leather on the inside (fabric lining doesn't look as good)
- have at least a 11" tall shaft measured from heel
in good condition to be folded over (meaning the interior doesn't have cracks or other damage)
Shipping
Domestic items (within the United States) are shipped via First Class Mail or Parcel Post (*2 – 8 day delivery) although they usually arrive within 2 - 5 business days, and include delivery confirmation and a tracking number, which I will send to you once your package has been shipped. Packages are shipped within 1-3 business days of receiving payment.

I also offer expedited shipping upon request for an additional charge. If you would like this service, please convo me before purchasing and I will update the shipping for you.

If you are an international customer and are interested in purchasing one of my items please send me an email or convo me and I will get you a specific shipping estimate and update the listing to ship to your location. *Any duties charged on incoming packages must be paid by the buyer*

I refund any shipping charge that goes over $1.00 USD of what it actually costs me to ship to you. Please keep in mind, however, that this must also include cost of materials and gas to and from shipping centers. Thanks :)

***I ship to the address you have on file in association with your ETSY account. Please check to make sure that this address is in fact the correct one. If you want your item shipped to a different address, please convo me or include this information in the 'message to seller' box at checkout. If I do not receive this information at the time of purchase and your item then ships to the wrong address, the BUYER must pay for the package to be resent to an address other than what Etsy has on file for you***
Refunds and Exchanges
I cannot offer full scale returns, as I am working solo out of my apartment. I am, however open to talking with you on a case by case basis to work something out if you are unsatisfied, as I truly wish each of you to be fully satisfied and happy with your order. Please contact me within 7 days of receipt and I will see what I can do to fix things up for you. After that 7 day window has passed, the sale will be considered final. Unfortunately damage or loss during shipping is out of my control and I will not be held responsible for these types of loses. If you are concerned about this, please convo me and I can arrange to put insurance on your package for an additional fee.

Please contact me with any questions or concerns and I will do my very best to help!
