My business is as eco-conscious as possible, saving and sorting cutoff fabrics and other materials from Sew Shop activities to repurpose, rehome, locally donate and/or recycle.
Thank you for shopping small, strong, independent maker, women-owned businesses like me on Etsy!

About FernRidgeFarmhouse

Handmade quilts are my passion - whether vintage fabrics in a modern design or the comfort of a classic quilt pattern.

My two workhorses - Eleanor (embroidery) and Victoria (sewing) keep things moving through the shop.

My cutting table and fabric stash - at least 90% of my stash is purchased from local, women owned quilt shops.
Authentic Handmade
Welcome to Fern Ridge Farmhouse. After 20 years in the stained and fused glass industry (and many years on Etsy as Sunflower Glassworks) I have retired from glass and returned to my roots in quilting and design.
My work as an artist has come full circle. I started sewing and designing as a teen, finding a quick market for the handmade items that I created. My sewing continued through college as I used it as a financial means to earn two degrees. After college, I designed stage costumes and designed bridal gowns. Eventually I set my sewing machine aside for a passion and career in glass but all that time, the fabrics were waiting for me to come back.
Quality and detail is paramount in my work. I personally select every fabric I work with and check each step of my work with a critical eye. I handcraft every item in my shop with the inspiration of the feel and color of the fabrics and materials I work with. I am always on the lookout for fabrics that "speak" to me - it might be a certain color or print or the feeling I get from looking or touching the fabric. I also prefer to patronize small, locally owned businesses whenever possible to gather my materials. I will also purchase quantities of fabrics that need new homes as they meet my standards, especially true vintage cottons.
My tagline, "Authentic Handmade" comes from these qualities that I put into my work. Everything in this shop is made by hand, by me with as little waste as possible.
I am happy to be celebrating my 12th year on Etsy and 7 consecutive months of Etsy Star Seller status - earning this designation each month since the Star Seller program inception!
I am very fortunate to do what I love and have made a career out of selling my handcrafted goods around the world.

Frequently asked questions
How do you pack and ship items?
All items are packaged with great care to arrive in picture perfect condition. All items are securely boxed or in padded mailers for shipping using new packing materials from a smoke-free studio.
Our preferred shipping method is US Postal Service. We also use FedEx Ground and FedEx International shipping when requested or required. All shipments receive tracking numbers and insurance (when required) and you will receive a confirmation of shipping email from Etsy on the date of shipment.
What about damages?
Damages are infrequent but they must be reported within 48 hours of verifiable delivery confirmation, no exceptions. Please take photos of damage and packaging and contact me immediately. I will work with you to resolve the issue.
Orders $35 and over receive "free shipping" in your shop. What services are included in the "free shipping" offer?
Currently, free shipping methods include USPS First Class Mail and Priority Mail.
Free shipping does NOT include international, domestic overnight, expedited or any other premium shipping or handling methods.
We are happy to make other accommodations:
Premium methods are available, but only by arrangement and additional fees. The amount that this shop would have paid in postage to fulfill the "free shipping" offer will be deducted from requested premium shipping fees at market rate. Customer is responsible for paying the remaining balance to receive those shipping services under a separate Etsy invoice prior to shipping.
