Oh my goodness! How can I tell you how much I love the necklace from Surfingsilver? Rita helped me every step of the way, as I wasn't sure how to download my image, and the finished product was perfect.

Beautiful work! A unique keepsake for my husband for Father's Day. I was given specific, well thought out instructions which made it super easy for my kids to write something. I love it!
The History Of Our Shop
Late in 2009 this painter fell in love with a new medium, Silver! When I saw that I could put my waves (and other) artwork into silver, I knew I had to learn how. I was introduced to it by watching a how-to show on TV. Within 2 weeks I took a introductory course nearby in San Clemente, California. The teacher there, Joanne, encouraged me and said I "could really go places" Something inside me felt exhilarated, and I was flooded with ideas and visions; I felt an urgency to become certified and lucky for me the timing was right. Ten days later I flew from California to Savannah GA. where I was privileged to be a student of the world renowned metalsmith and international author Tim McCreight. Tim wrote the industry standard and (what has become known as the jewelry makers bible) "The Complete Metalsmith." At the end of my course I was officially guild certified, and as the newest Guild member I was privileged to have a one on one conference with my instructor Tim McCreight. It was then that Tim encouraged me even more. He told me that during my class with him that I had done things in silver that he had not ever seen before! He also told me of talents he observed in me that I was oblivious to! Then I met an Etsy artisan in my class named Julie Ashton, who taught me about opening an ETSY shop, which I did 5 weeks later in Nov. 2009. My first sale came 5 days later! In early 2010 I was busy enough to need another pair of hands, so I found Carrie, you'll read more about her below. It was slow going at first, but soon I was getting steady sales. I poured so much time into developing my shop and items. Little by little I was getting more business and repeat customers. By Dec. 2010 I could hardly make it through the holiday season and shipping took forever. Etsy's made alot of improvements since then! During this time I found some international recognition for making my interpretation of what the locket on the Vampire Diaries TV show might look like. There was not a clear photo of what the real one looked like, and so I had to guess what it might look like, and marketed it as an “Inspired by” item. Word got out that I was making it when there was not another one to be found anywhere on the internet. My Google analytics was showing that my shop was being seen in 139 countries around the world. I was working 18 hours a day, (no exaggeration) ask my husband and kids who were supportive of what I was trying to build. It was about this time that I was featured in an online magazine; & my family realized I really was on to something. It took a couple of years for my ideas to be found & appreciated & many people who graciously posted about what I had made for them on their blogs, I thank them, & those who still do. My items were being recognized as unique; I was being contacted by product placement editors in popular magazines who wanted to feature my items! In April 2013 my shop was featured on a TV show! Back in 2012, Surfingsilver went through a big expansion with the popularity of my "Memorial" items. In 2009 I had been the first to put "your own handwriting" silver items on the market, then in 2012 when people finally noticed my "Memorial Jewelry from the actual writing of your lost loved ones" my shop went crazy & exploded with more orders than I could handle on my own. In fall 2012 there was no way for me to provide for the 100's of requests I was getting each day. Thankfully, Carly and Cristen came to my rescue.
CARLY-Devoted wife & mother of 4, is a mathematician, has her college degree & teaching credential in math, and helps with sizing, keeping the books, shipping, ordering supplies, and other time consuming behind the scenes operations. Carly joined SurfingSilver in 2012
CRISTEN-Dedicated mother of 2, started out being my model in listings; she became interested in making the jewelry, & became my apprentice. She was anxious to learn and help me expand my Etsy shop. She shadowed me, learned quickly, starting off with coloring & polishing silver, graduated to drilling holes, & cutting out hearts. She has now expanded into more elaborate skills and can do most everything I do.
CARRIE has been with SurfingSilver since 2010. Carrie found me through the old Etsy Alchemy system; she had put in a bid on the request I made, & she has been here for me ever since. A professional photo editor and photoshop teacher who lived in front of her computer screen in NY. Both Carly and Cristen have learned how to give direction to Carrie who is a photoshopping expert. Early in 2013 she branched out doing other things and has even been in a couple of movies! These 3 have made it possible for me to expand and make about 4 times more volume this past year without raising prices. Well, there you have it, the whole story of our shop, thank you for being interested enough to actually read it.

Can I make substitutions on things like chain styles or ear wire type?
Yes substitutions can be made, but discuss this with me before the purchase is completed. If there is a price difference I will let you know before you purchase.
Can I get a rush order?
I need to know before you order if you need it rushed. Sometimes there are not enough hours in the day to add one more order to my workload. so be sure to ask before you order. I can't keep delaying open orders because someone needs their item in a hurry, so that means I have to work overtime, into the late night. Because I have to work over time to fit in a rush order, I have to charge extra for my time. Some Rush fees include two portions of extra fees. One is for my time, the other is for the expedited shipping.
How much can I expect to pay for a rush order?
That depends on my work load. The best thing to do is ask me. Sometimes you'll catch me when I can simply slip it into my current batch without a rush fee at all, sometimes I can do it for a few dollars, but when I have a full load it can be pricy.
IF you need it sooner than my current lead time and I am very busy with full workloads it can be up to $50 for a rush order fee. If you need it express shipped it is $40 shipping fee or if it is Fed-EX I will have to quote you after you give me the address These prices are for domestic rush orders that will be shipped to an address within the USA.
What about RUSH orders for international customers?
I need to know before you order if you need it rushed.
INTERNATIONAL RUSH PRICES:
The shipping part of the pricing will be more for international shipping than listed above, you will need to contact me for a quote, I will need the address to where it is shipping to quote you, You will need to let me know if you want PRIORITY shipping or if you want EXPRESS shipping, International Express shipping is pretty expensive, or FedEx
>>>Buyer is responsible for customs and duty fees in your country.

How do the aromatherapy pendants work?
It does not open and close like a locket. It has a hollow pouch so that you can put in essential oil for aromatherapy. You can put oil directly into the pendant or you can soak the oil in cotton, felt or a small piece of sponge to remove it easier. If you don't want to put oil in then it will also hold something else like a message written out on a paper, a wish, a prayer, favorite scripture, poem or lyrics or whatever you can think of that would fit. It is also awesome when it is empty!
