Announcement Just so you'll know . . . . almost all the beautiful and unique shells, stained and sea glass, tiles, driftwood and polymer clay molds used in the creation of my mixed-media mosaics have been purchased from other shops on Etsy. They so much enjoy seeing what I've done with their products. When you purchase from me, you are also helping other sellers in this fabulous marketplace!

Mixed-Media Mosaics. Grouting entails a lot of masking with blue tape to protect 3-dimensional tile.
Nadean O'Brien - SurfingTurtleMosaics
I'm a native Californian and long-time resident of "Surf City" Huntington Beach who rediscovered art following a graduate degree and successful careers in public administration and business. After a life-changing weekend workshop with Paul Heussenstamm, internationally noted Laguna Beach spiritual artist as well as surfer, I eventually went on to become a professional mandala painter and teacher with my own studio for over 20 years.
My formal education in art began as an apprentice in the atelier of a master where washing brushes, mixing paints and assisting other students paid for my tuition. In the process, I found my life's passion and emerged a professional staff artist for Mandalas.com for many years as well as creator of my own web site of spiritual paintings on canvas inspired by the beautiful and sensuous art of Tibetan Tantric Buddhism at Jeweledlotus.com.
A traumatic injury to my right hand in 2015 has presented an opportunity to create in the exciting medium of mixed-media mosaics rather than with tiny brushes and acrylics on canvas. Hence the birth of Surfing Turtle Mosaics. “Create or Die,” is my mantra! Currently a member of the Huntington Beach Art Center Artist Council, I enjoy participating in sponsored exhibits and events as well as supporting my fellow members whatever their artistic pursuits.
