Welcome to Surrealmuse Studios! Featuring the soft pastel paintings, prints, journals, note cards and magnets of Natalie Roberts.

Soft pastel paintings are often referred to as a lost art since most artists traditionally paint with oils, acrylics, or watercolor. Unlike these liquid based mediums, soft pastel comes in the form of a powder stick, consisting of pure powdered pigment and an inert binder that results in bright, bold paintings.

My technique involves smudging color with my fingers directly and then applying a layer of fixative that help bind the colors together. I then repeat the process several times to build up the texture and richness in color.

Printed on Kodak Professional Endura Metallic Paper, which features a unique pearlescent surface that captures sharp details and beautifully saturated colors resulting in striking, three-dimensional, lasting images on an ultra-bright background.

All original paintings and prints feature custom mats cut in my studio. Options include single mats and double mats in a wide range of colors.

I also carry a wide range of functional art from fine art photography notecards to magnets and wire bound journals.
