    5 out of 5 stars

I bought one of Susan Barrett's beautiful bowls three years ago and have loved it. So when I saw another of her bowls in similar colors, I decided to make it a pair. I couldn't be happier with them.

Welcome to my shop!

My work explores the primitive and mysterious act of creativity. Stripping away all the trappings of the modern world, I return to the basic elements of fire, earth, water and air. I am drawn to the beauty and mystery of the simple, round shape. For me, this shape is an exploration of ritual and repetition, not an attempt to reproduce identical vessels. Each one is unique and intended to evoke images of an evolving planet.

Each vessel is turned on the potters wheel, stone burnished with terra sigilatta, fired in a raku kiln to 1400 degrees F and placed red hot into sawdust and smoke fired. The sawdust, size of the piece and weather conditions all play an important part in the final surface image. With so many variables at work, each vessel achieves a uniqueness that is impossible to duplicate.
