I believe Susan's art speaks for itself. It is cute, creative, and fun online and in real life. Susan is wonderful to work with. She is quick to respond to your inquiries, very flexible, and accommodating. She went above and beyond to provide me with exactly what I wanted while working with a small time frame. Thank you Susan!

About

Life Life in Color!

I have lived many lifetimes, and embraced life in every chapter. I have lived in Egypt, Germany, Toronto, sunny Florida and now in Canada where I am living my 'settle down' series. Throughout all of my journeys, I have had one constant, and that is my passion for art. Art is a magical place where you can lose yourself, tell a story, read a story and discover something new.

Artist Statement

Being an artist does not simply mean you are good at sketching or painting, or that you can act, sing or dance. It means succumbing to the voice in the depths of your soul and letting go to all that you are without fear of rejection or ridicule. It means pushing yourself to the edge of your being and making a new path all your own. A true artist listens to what is inside and creates from within without any constraints or limits from the outside world.

I have always been a creative person, but it wasn’t until my trip to Amsterdam that I realized what was missing from my life. A beautiful painting of a single rose hanging in a coffee shop window changed who I was. As I stared at the painting I promised myself that I would accept my creativity and take my energy to a higher level.

The process has not been an easy one, as I am self-taught trying to listen to what is inside and produce. Sometimes I vision a masterpiece in its entirety in my sleep; sometimes I have to stare at a blank canvas for 3 days before I settle on a single vision; other times I just let the brush do the painting.

Whatever the method, I am most satisfied and complete when I listen to my silence and give in to my emotions and the artist that lies within.

Biography

Born in Newfoundland in 1974, Susan had a small town upbringing. She concentrated on sports and education, and graduated Memorial University with a Master of Education Degree, Bachelors in Education and Physical Education. Despite her accomplishments, she had an intrinsic need to explore her creative side and to surround herself with brightness.

This exploratory side led to seizing opportunities and relocating to culturally diverse regions including Egypt, Germany and most recently South Florida. These experiences influenced the color palette and energy which infiltrate her art.

Influenced by the freedom in the work by great artists such as Jackson Pollock and Franz Kline, Susan found her own voice and started down her own path. She is a self-taught artist who believes in the art of inner expressionism and most of her pieces are charged with high emotions void of traditional brushwork. Much of her work is derived from a connection with nature; both its raw energy and calming effects. The spirit and energy that is evident in her work is gaining international attention.

“We are constantly growing and evolving, just like the universe that surrounds us. Join me on my journey of exploration, growth and evolution and dive into a world of color and expressionism. Being able to express yourself through color and imagery is a beautiful thing!”

The self-taught artist takes the path less traveled. It can often be difficult finding your own way without the necessary skills, but a true artist cannot turn a blind eye to the desire to create from within. A true artist must dig deep, close their eyes and believe; believe that one day their less traveled path will be a familiar one, filled with satisfaction, elation and contentment and the companionship of those that want to share in the journey.
