A Little Shop of Humor

Hi! Thanks so much for stopping by! The fact that you're here tells me that we have something in common — an attraction for specialized gifts ... with a twist of FUNNY.

I take the quality of my work very seriously... and my subject matter very whimsically. If you see something in my shop that tickles your funny bone, then mission accomplished! It's all about observing the traits of people and pets doing what they love to "do" and putting that into a still life 'situation comedy'.

Much of my work originated from custom gifts that I've given people in my life — whose reactions to my interpretations (mockings) of them shines with giggles & pure delight. This is what spurred me on to open this shop. My addiction to making people feel special — in a funny-quirky sort of way.

For those subjects that I'm not so familiar with there's lots of research involved! Depending on the given project, I'll ask myself, "What're the most typical traits of the subjects in my collection?" ie, "What would go through a teacher's mind at the start of her day?", or "What is it that golfers need most while contemplating that difficult shot?", "What's the most common request a dental tech gives to her patient?" With the Comedic Cats Collection it was my intent to illustrate a specific traIt of a person, ie Stubborn, Bossy, Persistent, etc, using the scenario of a cat. This is my world as an observational illustrator. And it helps to be a person who sees some humor in most things.

And now back to the drawing board, where I'd typically begin taking a sip from my paint water... until getting smart and moving my beverage to an opposite corner of the table! A common practice of an artist, so I've learned!

So, what is it that you see humor in? I'd love to hear about it! Maybe I'll add it to my collection of future projects!
