Hello! I'm Susan Green, an artisan bookbinder and bookbinding tutor living and working on the south coast of England. I love design, visiting art exhibitions, live music and walking on the beach with my greyhounds.

I've been making books since 2008 when a chance encounter in a library introduced me to the art of making your own notebooks. I was quickly hooked, gave up my Master's degree and opened my bookbinding business. Fast forward 7 years and I work full time as a bookbinder, bookbinding tutor and manage to cram in some freelance marketing work, exhibitions, friends, family and a few adventures here and there.

I stand for great craftsmanship - I use the best leathers and attention to detail and I want your book to be perfect. I accept most forms of payment including debit and credit cards, Paypal and BACs. Please note that you as a buyer are liable for any customs, handling or import fees.

Shipping

In-stock books and linen thread will be posted within 3 working days of your order.For made to order, custom and personalised books please allow up to 4 weeks plus delivery from the UK.

SHIPPING: most orders are sent using a tracked and insured service which needs signing for when it arrives, so please bear this in mind when entering a shipping address. UK orders take around 1-2 days after posting, International 5-7 working days but may be up to 3-4 weeks.

UPGRADES: Express international shipping is available on most items, and arrives within 1 week, often sooner.

GIFTS - I would be happy to send your items to your gift recipient, send me their details by Etsy convo.

CUSTOMS - as a buyer you're responsible for paying any customs charges, import duties, taxes, handling fees etc on your order.

Custom and personalised orders

Custom orders are my speciality! You can choose your own leather and binding thread colours, your size and specify custom text for me to print on the title page, such as your names or a meaningful quotation. Please send me a custom request, a convo or check out further information about all your Bespoke options on my blog: http://boundbyhand.co.uk/blogs/news/tagged/bespoke

Care instructions

CARE: It is best to store your book flat when not in use, such as on a desk, rather than standing on a bookshelf. Please protect your book from rain, liquids or oils as they may mark the leather. Finally, please keep your book away from prolonged periods of direct sunlight, for example leaving it on a windowsill.

INCLUSIONS: Use acid-free glue for your inclusions, such as glue dots or photo corners or spray mount. Washi tape is also good, please do not use sellotape.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All my books arrive in branded brown paper packaging. The Mini Journals arrive ready to gift in colourful gift bags.

I am happy to ship directly to your gift recipient, and can include a handwritten note from you, just let me know.
