5 out of 5 starsI absolutely love the colors on this cowl, the regal gold and purple are amazing. It's wonderfully heavy and thick, and makes going out in the cold weather an event rather than a chore. It folds up really nicely so I don't feel like I have to stuff it in a drawer. The seller was very fast at processing my order and got it out to me right away. Knowing this was hand dyed from golden rod and logwood is amazing, especially considering how incredible the colors look. As someone who only buys natural I'm very pleased that this is chemical free. I love etsy because I like to support homemade craft and small businesses. The seller is even local to where I live.
All in all immensly satisfied by my purchase, and would absolutely buy again.
Shop policies
The fiber I use to create with is purchased from humane sources, as far as I know and I always ask. Fiber is purchased locally, when possible, from family businesses with responsible practices. I purchase the Cormo from Buckwheat Bridge Angoras. They are a wind and solar powered fiber farm, Hudson Valley, NY.
After the purchase of the fleece, it is sorted then scoured (cleaned) using a scent-free, bio-degradeable product. Then I use a picker to open up the locks, and then either hand-card, drum card or comb before spinning.
Once it is spun then it is finished before it is dyed with natural, organic dyes.
Now I can either sell the yarn or knit it into my vision of wearable art.
Koigu yarn, which I have used to make some of the cowls, is the product of a woman artist-owned farm. Each skein is hand-painted.
The cowls utilize a style of knitting called Domino Knitting. It is what makes the colors align in amazing patterns and gives texture to the knitted items. For me, it is a slower, more careful style of knitting and takes longer to make.
My home is non-smoking, chemical-free, scent -free and raw food cat friendly.
