I love glass! I design and make one of a kind lampwork glass beads by hand using only the finest glass, a torch, a kiln and a few tools in my Dallas home studio.

Lampworking is the process of melting glass rods in the flame of a torch and then wrapping the molten glass around a mandrel to create a bead hole. The glass must remain warm in the flame while working and transforms into a bead by shaping, stretching, poking, cutting, and more shaping. When the final shape is achieved, further embellishments - such as gold or silver foil, and CZ's - can be added for supreme beauty. To make sure these treasures have a long life, every bead goes immediately into a digitally controlled kiln where it is annealed overnight to relieve any stress in the glass.

Starting out as a spark of my imagination, each new design goes through several metamorphoses until the bead in my hand matches the image in my head. On occasion, the nearly finished piece starts to exceed my expectations and I have to place it in the kiln temporarily because I am having a bit of a panic/happy attack and need to take a breather! This is a very emotional process, with highs and lows, after which it is very hard for me to let my new "baby" go.

My work has been published in the 2012 & 2013 issues of The Flow magazine's Annual Gallery of Women in Glass, as well as several issues of the online lampworking magazine Soda Lime Times.

Although my current passion is glass, I also meticulously handcraft one of a kind sterling silver, copper, and enameled jewelry - some with intricate cloisonne.
