Announcement    Making art for the love of wild creatures! I donate part of the proceeds from my wildlife art to non-profit organizations that work to protect the very animals that inspire us!

In 2017, I was able to donate over $4000 in combined cash, materials and volunteer craft workshops to non-profit wildlife advocacy groups, including Oregon Wild, Defenders of Wildlife, Audubon Society of Portland, Crag Law Center, and Sierra Club. Thank you to everyone for your support!

Special Focus:
I'm making wolf totems this year special to help people see the wonderfully gentile and loving side of wolves. Understanding wolves better brings awareness for how important they are to the balance of ecosystems and keeping rodent populations in check. Please join me in protecting these majestic animals, and spread the love for all creatures great and small!

Other News: I've changed my shop name, so that friends and family can find me easier! Sorry for the confusion, Happy treasure hunting!

About

Imagination as an Ecological Force

In a world where imagination is an ecological force, I create toys and Illustrated cards to encourage compassion for endangered species to preserve a rich heritage for future generations.

Beautility is also my motto. The melding of Utility and Beauty into one purpose. I've spent a lifetime making utilitarian things into beautiful keep sakes, and reducing the use of plastics in my daily life. And Etsy let's me share that pleasure one item at a time with the world community.

I've always been a very visual and tactile person, so my personal environment is an important extension of my inner mind. I'm always looking for clever ways to transform the ugly "everyday use" things in my life into lovely inspirations! Decorating my tools and cabinets, organizing my supplies into a visually appealing collection of glass jars and woven baskets, building sculptural racks for my friends instruments... are just the start of how I make the things already in my life more beautiful.

My folks taught me craftsmanship and conservation beginning at a young age during my summer breaks by having me help them restore historical homes, gardening and habitat restoration, apprenticing me to a blacksmith, and teaching me all sorts of engineering and history stuff along the way. Later on I would work part time at their furniture restoration business, where my mom's motto was "un-doing ugly, one piece at a time." She taught me the wonderful feeling of transforming a broken piece of junk into a unique statement of furniture! More than just returning a derelict back into the use-stream, more over giving the piece a new life as a bit of artistry. In this, I've become a master re-purposer!

Much of the time I begin with found objects, and up-cycled materials to create my artwork which inherently makes them one-of-a-kind. With having diverse interests, I divide my artistic time between creating home furnishings out of wood and metal parts, designing and stitching soft sculptures of endangered animals and marginalized Ethnic cultures including wire marionettes, and drawing and painting local wildlife in wood-cut and classical Flemish style.

I've worked for the Feature Film industry for over seven years, enjoying creating miniature handcrafted items for such films as Coraline, Frankenweenie and ParaNorman, and continue to make specialty items for independent Puppet and Stop-Motion Animated films. But I'm always excited to venture back into building schemes of my own design! Decidedly making short run editions that brighten the world and fuel the imagination.

Suzie's Tea Room is a collection of handmade childrens toys, wildlife awareness collectables, DIY kits, unique home decor sculpture and the occasional vintage serving ware. In my handcrafted art, I strive to upcycle materials, use vintage details, recycled content paper and natural media.

Each item is lovingly handcrafted and one of kind. Therefore, items may vary slightly which adds to their artistic and unique nature.

Special Campaign to Help Spread Awareness about Oregon Wolves:
I'm creating a Ceramic Portrait (animal totem) for every known wolf in Oregon, this first edition will only have 112 wolf portrait totems (the number of Wolves known to live in Oregon in 2016). Part of the proceeds from my sales of these wolf totems be donated to the Wolf Preservation Non-profit Organizations: OregonWild and Defenders of Wildlife. I would love for people to get to know and follow the life of each wolf as an individual sentient creature who loves their pups, and their adopted brothers and sisters. They deserve a safe place to thrive and keep our forests healthy.

Special Energy Saving and Ergonomic Item Highlight:
Hot Water Bottles with covers offer comfortable sitting in office chairs or car seats for extended time. Support your back and revitalize circulation with the use of a hot water bottle on the lumbar of your chair.

In the hot seat? Put ice water or crushed ice in a hot water bottle or zip-lock heavy-duty bag protected by a cover and place on the lumbar of the car seat or operations seat of heavy equipment to refreshing sitting during the long haul of a hot days work. These polar fleece covers will wick away the most perspiration given off by the bottle and you for the most comfort!
-----------------------------------------
My store was originally named after my grandmother whom enjoyed collecting beautiful and delicate tea serving ware, now I updated the name so the friends could more easily find me on Etsy!

Everything is made by me in my home, which is a smoke free, but cat friendly house. The two cats are not allowed to help me work, and all fabrics are kept away from them, and I wash each handmade fabric item with dye free soap and heat treat for allergy free freshness. I also offer custom scenting of the sock animal childrens toys upon request for a small fee.

Shipping
All my pieces are carefully individually gift wrapped and packaged to ensure safe delivery. Please use care when opening your package to look for your 'bundle' in the box.

Due to Etsy raising their fees and adding 5% fee charge on shipping costs, you will see a slight raise in shipping costs. I try to keep the costs down as much as possible while still giving you personal service, gift wrap and packaging, I want you to feel like you're opening a present when you receive your order. You can always message me, if you want the cheaper USPS service and don't mind a little longer time in transit. I always refund shipping overages!

International Customers: I ship using USPS, and items over 13oz. are required to be sent Priority USPS International Mail. Priority USPS International Mail costs start at $22.00. Also note to UK and EU Customers, any order over $23 US Dollars will be subject to a VAT fee and in the UK an additional $8 Royal Mail handling fee. As the exporter, I'm not allowed by law to pay these fees, they are the responsibility of the buyer.

Custom Orders: If wanting a custom made item please allow 3 weeks for your order to be made and shipped. If you need an item to be rushed please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate. If you need an upgrade to rush shipping I will let you know what the difference in shipping cost will be.
Additional policies and FAQs
If what you are looking for is not in my store but similar to what I make, let me know and I would be happy to work with you to create something wonderful! I love custom orders. I am happy to accommodate any custom order of $55 or more.

For example, you have a favorite animal you would like to have me make into a sock animal. It should take a few days to a couple of weeks to create a new item, depending on the type of item. I email progress reports and when it is finished I will email you photos to make sure you like it. Half the agreed upon price or up to full price is due to begin work on your custom order.
