I really am a shepherdess! I raise historic breeds of sheep on my small farm using 19th century farming methods. EVERYTHING I sell comes from my own sheep.
Why? I’m a knitter and a historian, so when I knit an item using a vintage pattern it just doesn’t make sense for me to use anything but wool that is as historically accurate as possible for the period I am representing. Unable to find exactly the sort of yarn I wanted, I got some sheep and made my own.
I sell 100% wool yarn. My yarn is processed on a mill made early in the 20th century that uses the same milling methods that have been in use since the 1760s, and is wound by hand into skeins.
I also sell historic pattern kits. All of my pattern kits use dated, authentic 19th century patterns, and each includes the pattern plus the yarn.
Whether you are a living history interpreter or reenactor portraying the 18th, 19th or early 20th century, a staff member or volunteer demonstrating at a museum or historic site, or if you just want to fully experience a simple part of our foremothers' daily life, my yarn will make your work much more historically accurate.

5 out of 5 starsThis is the best rustic yarn kit. All natural, undyed, squishy wool. This is my second kit that I bought from Suzy. Excellent product, great customer service, a really great experience. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

5 out of 5 starsSuzy the shepherd is the real deal, as are her lambs and their wool. Since I don't knit (yet), I asked if her yarn could be used on crochet projects (which is what I would do with it). She said that it could be used for either technique.
