All my life I have used my hands as a creative tool. Approximately at mid-life, I began painting in large part due to my mother—also an artist—who declared boldly as mothers do, that I was an artist and needed to paint. Since that beginning a couple of decades ago, I have explored a multitude of artistic mediums, beginning with watercolors, which I still love because of the purity of color and lush watercolor paper. I have also moved from realism to increasingly more and more abstract images. From the beginning I wanted to be an abstract artist and have some early abstract watercolors that I made hanging in my home, but painting abstractly is much more challenging than one would think. On my journey to abstraction I have learned a lot about design and about being bold and authentic. Currently I am using oil and cold wax. I have studied with Rebecca Crowell and Jerry McLaughlin who have written the definitive book on this medium. Lucky for me, Rebecca and I are practically neighbors and when I went to her for private tutoring, she suggested I try that medium.
Although my art is abstract it is still full of meaning. Through the use of color I am communicating various states of mind—usually, but not always an optimism that each of us has at our disposal an immense amount of personal power. Another theme is the natural world, particularly trees, water, sky and earth. This persona embodied in shape is set against a texturized field of color. I lead a very personal life rich in meaning and intent and try to make my art reflect this. My sensitive nervous system notices everything and often overwhelms me. Art is away of shifting through the barrage to focus on what I love and what is important to me.

Messy but magic happens here. My basement studio has an access window. I receive natural light and look up into trees.
I love to create and enjoy working in a variety of mediums. I love color. Currently I am primarily working in oil and cold wax.
I spend my free time making art, sewing, and writing. It has given me enormous pleasure and pride that I am able to sell world-wide through etsy.

Owner, Creator
I've had two passions in life. First came writing, and, in addition to a career writing , I've written my heart out in books, poems, and essays. Then I discovered art to fuel my creativity. I love painting, and exploring all artistic mediums.
