Crochet for Family, Nature, & God
My memories of my Nana are mostly of her in her chair, crocheting afghans for family and friends. With over 20 grandchildren, there was always someone who could enjoy the warmth of a handmade granny square afghan made with skilled hands and a loving heart. Everyone I'm related to still has at least one of her afghans!
My mother-in-law was actually the one to teach me to crochet. It makes me proud to continue the art that is meaningful to both sides of our family.
I'm passionate about using high-quality organic and all natural yarns. When I started crocheting, I used synthetic yarn prevalent at big box stores. I just didn't like the plasticy-ness of the synthetics running through my hands. I especially didn't like the use of chemicals in making those synthetic yarns. Luckily, living outside of the Philly area, I found some lovely little yarn shops filled with wonderful colors and materials. I experimented a lot and only offer my very favorites in my shop. I have a huge basket of yarns on my shelf, beautiful in their own right, waiting to be shaped, representing the oh so endless list of ideas I have...
I'm inspired by nature, so it's essential that I protect that inspiration for myself, my children, and others. My soul feels most at peace in nature, whether at the edge of the ocean, in a forest, or looking at a meadow outside my home. I often feel closest to God when making a connection to things simple & natural. I think that's why I love babies and flowers so much- they're so pure, and natural, and beautiful and I think you can sense they have just come recently from the hands of God.
Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable... think about such things. Phillipians 4:8

I live in the country with my husband and two boys who support my "yarning" but have not yet indulged me by raising our own sheep for wool. The views of meadows, sky, and flowers out my windows inspire my creative process and choice of natural yarns
