It all started in 2010 with the birth of the Original Sweetface. He changed my world forever. Back then, I was a 6th grade Language Arts teacher who loved her job and had no intentions of doing anything else. But when that boy came into my life, I returned to work with a broken heart and a mad case of post-partum depression.

PPD is no joke, y’all.

After a few months in the classroom, my husband and I decided teaching wasn’t working out for me, and so I became a stay at home mom for the 2011-2012 school year. That’s when SweetFace Design was born on Etsy (name changed to Sweetface & Co in 2017). I was looking for a creative outlet and a way to occupy my time. But my heart wasn’t in it, so I gave it up shortly after.

Let’s fast-forward to the good stuff, shall we?

In 2013, the next little Sweetfaced boy was born, and the long days spent at home encouraged me to jump into graphic design, creating stationary and art prints for myself and friends. After some prompting from friends and family to sell my work, I reluctantly agreed, on one condition: I would reopen my Etsy shop in October and sell my prints. If I sold 20 prints by the end of the year, I’d consider keeping the shop open into 2014. By Christmas, I was packaging my 200th order. And so SweetFace Design was officially open for business. It’s been quite a ride from there.

In 2015, we became a foster family and welcomed a little honorary Sweetfaced girl into the family. Since then, 4 little girls and a baby boy have wiggled their way into our hearts, and foster care and adoption has become quite a passion. When you support Sweetface & Co, you are allowing our family to continue its ministry to foster children.
