About

I learned to be crafty...

I love paper quilling and making paper quilled jewelry, ornaments, and art pieces. I also make gel medium art pieces whereby I transfer ink from carefully spliced pieces of paper to canvas, often including paint and other mixed media. I then embellish the images with paper filigree, making 3D paper quilled art. Outside of my shop I often take quilling beyond "the norm" and love experimenting to see what I can make, including baby mobiles, holiday centerpieces, hair accessories, greeting cards, sculptures, and wedding cake toppers...all from humble strips of paper.

But I didn't always consider myself an artist...

I grew up thinking that the art gene skipped over me. My brother and sister could draw and paint in a way I could never figure out. When I drew a person the proportions were always wrong and my self-portrait looked more like "The Scream" than my own face. In college I quit my drawing class after one day because my professor had used my canvas as an example of "what not to do". I remember crying on the walk back to my dorm room. It was one of the few times I ever quit anything. Thank goodness, I didn't let a bad experience stop me. Eventually, with the encouragement of a few people in my life, I realized that I didn't have to be artsy...I could be crafty.
My Aunty Cathy introduced me to quilling. She, however, is an amazing quilter; quilTer, with a T. She does things with fabric that would make Belgian nuns jealous and she always creates her pieces with love of family as her muse. Thanks to her encouragement and faith in my creativity, I found my talent as a crafter. She always knew the art gene didn't skip over me, it just needed to be harnessed in a different way.

Please visit my shop to see how I harness my crafty genes with sweetly inspired, lovingly hand-crafted, whimsical paper creations!

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

I love making custom orders and some of my best work has come from the minds of my customers. I take custom orders on jewelry as well as wall art.
If you would like a custom order please click on the "Request Custom Order" tab under shop info or send me a message by clicking on "Contact the Shop Owner". If you like something you see but want it in a different size, color, or something uniquely you, I would be delighted to handcraft your ideal piece.
Prices for custom orders will vary and payment must be received before I begin making your piece.

Sizing details

Nearly all jewelry items can be made larger or smaller than listing size. Just ask me about making your piece a different size and I'd be happy to accommodate!

Care instructions

All of my quilling has been hand painted with several layers of special paper sealants. The sealant soaks into the paper, making it stiff, sturdy, and suitable for everyday wear.
The sealant I use also makes my work water resistant and UV resistant. It will not fade over time and can simply be wiped off with a cloth if it gets a little wet.
While my jewelry is water resistant, it is not waterPROOF. Please do not swim or shower in your jewelry. :)
Just as you would care for any precious piece of art, proper storage of your jewelry and/or ornaments in a jewelry box is advised and will prolong it's life.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All jewelry and ornaments will arrive in beautifully packaged boxes. Wall art and larger items will arrive gift wrapped in tissue paper.
All items are wrapped with a ribbon and optional gift tag, ready for giving.
Giving your item as a gift? Send me a message and I'll write a personalized note to the recipient for you!
All items are created and packaged in a smoke-free, pet-free environment.

Wholesale availability

Wholesale orders available on a per-case basis. Please send me an inquiry for further information.

What is quilling?

Quilling is also known as paper filigree. It involves curling, rolling and scrolling thin strips of paper into various shapes for decorative and artistic purposes. It is an art form dating back to Ancient Egypt and popularized during the Renaissance. Nuns would use the gilded edges of the Bible to quill intricate religious pieces and decorate book covers. The name "quilling" comes from the old practice of coiling paper strips around goose feather quills, rather than the nifty quilling tools we have available today.
Jane Austen even cites quilling in her novel "Sense and Sensibility".
~Perhaps,” continued Elinor, “if I should happen to cut out, I may be of some use to Miss Lucy Steele, in rolling her papers for her.~

How long does it take to make each piece?

It really depends on the piece. A small pair of earrings with only a few components may take a few hours. However, larger pieces, more detailed pieces, and ornaments can take a few days to complete.
My wall art takes a minimum of 24 hours to complete, as the image must dry overnight.

What colors do you have for quilling?

Most colors you can think of! I have quilling paper in over 90 different colors, including metallics.
I do my best to properly describe my items and take accurate photographs of all items. Please be aware that colors may vary on different monitors, however.
