Chocolate that Does Good in the World

Our tagline is "Confections with a Conscience." But why? What makes Sweet Impact unique?

In 2011, news headlines and documentaries like "The Dark Side of Chocolate" started catching my attention. Unbeknownst to so many of us chocolate lovers, there was a heavy price being paid, in human currency, for retail chocolate. By January 2013, I was ready to try to do something about it, in my tiny corner of the world. Sweet Impact was born.

Sweet Impact's mission is three-fold: 1) Gently and creatively shed light on a dark and painful issue: child slavery in the growing of the cocoa that fills our grocery store shelves. 2) Create and sell artisan chocolates that utilize cocoa free from any child-labor, and 3) Give 10% of all sales to help NGO's working with children in the countries where cocoa production is stealing their futures.

Our chocolate comes predominantly from Central & South America and the Caribbean, which is where the Cacao tree originated. It is where cacao grows in harmony with the rain forests and mountain regions. The chocolate from these regions each have unique flavor profiles, much like wine from various parts of the world. Approximately 90% of our chocolate is Single-origin, and/or Fair Trade certified and/or Organic certified.

Our packaging priorities are: biodegradable or compostable, 100%recycled content that can also be recycled, or just recyclable. The plastic tubs we use for our Naked Truffles are reusable/microwavable and recyclable.

We craft everything in a Wisconsin state-licensed food-processing kitchen, that was built through a https://www.kiva.org/ loan! You can find our story here: https://www.kiva.org/lend/1091113

Our ingredients are all-natural, including the coloring used in our painted chocolates. We use local honey, instead of glucose or corn syrup, in our truffles and filled chocolates. We're tiny, so we have the flexibility to continually tweak recipes to see what ways whole ingredients can be used, in place of more processed ones.

All those labors are to ensure that the decadent, luxurious chocolates you receive will charm your heart, mind and taste buds!
