About

Epiphany

I started selling antiques just after my 10 year old son was born.

Its funny how I got into the business. I went on a "mommy weekend getaway" with the moms in my children's playgroup. We played a myriad of games, but one of them was a question game. The question I was given was, "what would be your dream job if you didn't have kids?" I immediately said I would have an antique store. Really? Did that really come out of my mouth? I grew up with antiques, always loved them even as a young child, but did I really harbor this dream? It was a surprise to me that I said it, but it was pure and true honesty with self! What an epiphany

Well as luck would have it, a gal in the playgroup was just about to open and antiques booth in a local antique mall and needed a partner.

That's how it began, but as my children and their lives became more active, my time was limited and I only had pockets of time to work. I slowly started selling online with ebay. Then I began an online antiques website. I also started my own website selling antiques and vintage items. Then someone told me about etsy and the floodgates opened!

So all told, I have been selling for 10 years and have loved every minute of it. Selling antiques (and hunting them down and researching their history) is what helps keep me sane as a stay at home mom. I love my kids, but no one EVER told me how difficult a job it is! At times I feel like a crazy woman, and when I do, I head down to my liar to do some "work".

As of 2012, I have three etsy shops:
Swoon Antiques (the one you are viewing now)
Lucy's Closet Vintage - vintage clothes, jewelry and accessories.
Laughing Frog Studio - up cycled jewelry, accessories and home accessories (mostly from silverplate silverware)

You can also follow us on twitter and Facebook.

Please drop me a convo if you have any questions or wanna share your story with me!
