About swoonfibers
-
..somestimes raw yarn is just the most beautiful thing...ever.
-
...I have too many photo props, antiques, beloved objects..i love them all...and cannot even think of parting with them!
-
..creative chaos can be a good thing, but i have found that it DOES NOT go well with dyes! these are grouped by color.
-
...what could be better than a shelf full of yarn?
-
....i think dyers are part 'mad scientists', don't you?
Thank you for your support!
Now, in these times of isolation, anxiety and fear, it is the very best time for doing activities that nourish you. Reading, walking, writing, and of course handcrafting! Its a great time to learn a new skill, or if that's too overwhelming, how about a knit-night with friends, a cocktail Crochet-a-long or a craft-ernoon making gifts or sewing projects?
I am so grateful for the support of my customers, and especially right now, your loyalty and continued patronage has allowed me to ' keep going' at a time when things are tough for everyone. For those of you who sell items that you make from my supplies, I realize that shows have been canceled, sales are down..as a supplier i get it. Please contact me if you are having trouble affording supplies, I can work with you so that you may have a special discount.
(One of my regular customers just told me that all of their shows had been canceled for the foreseeable future. )
Early mornings with just me and Kleio, our french bulldog, and a cup of tea. My beloved books, my view of the lake, and my very precious studio.
My very favorite place to be is... in the studio...dyeing, dreaming, experimenting...my personal heaven!
I opened my shop in June of 2010, while I was working full time in NYC. Now, as of our move to Rochester, New York, in 2018, this has evolved into a full-time life in the dye studio.
My shop concept has always been about yarns to "swoon" over, as that is the core of the deep love and intense yearning I have always had for delectable yarns.
At the beginning I offered about 5 core yarns, and now offer over 32 different yarns. My focus in the past has been on the luxury handspun yarns. Now, I have added too many yarns to countI ( this is NOT NECESSARILY a good thing. As of Spring 2020, I am reevaulating my bases and I plan to keep the best ones...can you tell that this is really hard for me to decide! :D
Color...and unusual hard-to-find subtle and different color combinations have been the touchstone of Swoon Fibers. I often knit up a swatch of a newly dyed yarn , as I can't wait to play with it.
I love the excitement that knitters and crafters have about yarn, so when I deal with customers I try to make the experience as smooth as possible. I get it: you fall in love with something, you want it right away...that's me, too!!
All of my hand dyed yarns are a labor of love, they are an expression of the love of my life: fiber & how fiber takes color, and how yarn looks when it is knitted, how fiber looks when it is spun.
I hope you will join me in this journey of discovery and sharing, and the joy of all these things that we love to make with yarn.
