Welcome to Tagsmith! I began selling on Etsy in 2010, designing and handcrafting leather goods for men and women. I specialize in making leather wallets, billfolds, business card holders, money clip card holders and key chains in my workshop in Los Angeles, CA. All of my designs are made out of premium American or European leather. Tagsmith items can be customized with initials, name, or quote, making them great personalized gifts for yourself or loved ones.

This one was really special because my daughter recently changed her name and this made it very meaningful. I am going to buy more of these as Christmas gifts. But order early, because these are hand made and the artisan needs time to create them for you.

What is vegetable tanned leather?
Vegetable tanned leather or veg-tan, refers to the organic materials, such as tree bark, that are used to tan the cow hides. It is the oldest form of tanning, dating back thousands of years, also revered for its environmental friendliness.
Where do you source your leather?
All the leather I use is premium cow or bull leather sourced from two legendary American tanneries as well as an one award winning European tannery.
Wickett & Craig of America is located in Curwensville, PA. Founded in 1867, Wickett & Craig is a world renowned vegetable tannery.
The Horween Leather Company was founded in 1905, and located in Chicago,IL. They were made famous by their cult-favorite Chromexcel® and Essex leathers, as well as other tannages.
Do you do corporate branded gifts?
Yes, I work with businesses of all sizes, from local mom and pops to internationally recognized corporations, to create handcrafted gifts that celebrate their brand. Please contact me for more information.
Will you engrave/emboss anything I want on my item?
Almost. But there are some exceptions: no hate speech, nothing political, and nothing protected by copyright. I reserve the right to refuse any request.
Do you offer discounts for multiples?
Yes, I do offer discounts on most items. I also fill many orders for bridal party gifts, bridesmaid gifts, groomsmen gifts, and wedding favors. Please contact me for details.
How do I clean and condition my Tagsmith leather item?
Tagsmith items can be cleaned using a lightly damp cloth. For a more thorough treatment, you can use liquid saddle soap. Spray it on the cloth, then gently wipe down the leather. Once it dries, you can apply Fiebing’s Aussie Leather Conditioner. Let that dry overnight, then wipe dry with a soft, clean, dry cloth. I use this method to condition my own personal leather items about once a year.
How long will it take to receive my order?
Each item has a different production time, so please refer to each individual listing. Contact me if you have a specific time frame in which you need to receive an item and I will try to accommodate you.
What’s the difference between USPS Ground Advantage Mail and USPS Priority Mail?
Ground Advantage Mail takes 2 - 5 days to be delivered. Priority Mail takes 1 - 3 days to be delivered. I offer both options. Note: Upgrading from First Class Mail to Priority Mail does not change the production time for the item. Please send me an Etsy Convo about any rush orders before placing your order, and I’ll try my best to make it happen.
What is Horween Chromexcel?
Horween Chromexcel is the original “pull up” leather. Horween is an internationally respected leather tannery, founded in Chicago in 1905. The formula for this combination tanned leather has been around for over 100 years and has developed a cult following, and it’s easy to understand why. The weight is substantial, but without compromising its rich, buttery texture. In order to achieve the unique look and feel, the tannery puts these hides through at least 89 processes, which takes 28 days to complete. A lot of work goes into creating this gorgeous leather, and I’m proud to be able to create with it.
What is full grain leather?
Full grain leather is the highest quality, most durable type of leather, taken from the top of the hide. It is not sanded or corrected, so it has imperfections that contribute to its beauty and natural character.
