About

A handmade business with a lot of heart!

Tande Farmers Market is a small, home-based business located in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. Tande sets out to provide high-quality, eco-friendly felt children’s play foods. Tande stands for T(helma) and E(laine), and the company’s name is a tribute to my grandmothers, one of which is an avid sewer and quilter and another who was a savvy business woman and owner of The Plum Tree Clothing Boutique.

A little bit about myself - Tande is owned and operated by Rachel Warner, an avid sewer and full-time Museum Collections Manager. I’ve spent most of my life sewing, working with textiles, or pursuing some sort of crafty outlet for my constant creative energy. I started Tande Farmers Market with the desire to make felt play foods for my adorable young nephew, gifts that came from the heart and my passion for creating.

Why chose play foods? Why not! When I was little play “cooking” interested me from the time I was 2 until I was in grade school. My play kitchen has become a family heirloom, and I spent countless hours imagining and creating fantastic play meals! So, in trying to think of unique gifts for my new nephew, I immediately fell in love with making felt play foods. The possibilities are endless, figuring out new designs is always fun, and I could finally make a toy I’d want my own kids to play with – no screens, no electronics, just years of imaginative play with a durable, handmade product.

What makes Tande eco-friendly? Two reasons – scraps are chopped and reused as stuffing making for an almost entirely waste-free workshop and all play foods are made from Eco-fi felt made from recycled plastic bottles. Eco-Fi felt also doesn't shrink or fade, and it can easily be washed. Why not wool felt? Wool felt cannot be washed or it will shrink drastically and it can also cause allergic reactions for some individuals. Eco-felt utilizes a resource already readily available and reduces global waste. It is also hypoallergenic as are the polyfill and poly pellets or craft foam used to fill each piece. Since children's toys often need laundered, Eco-felt is the obvious choice in creating a durable, hypoallergenic, and washable product that can be played with for years.

Thank you for visiting my shop, and I hope you’ll find something to spark you or a child in your life’s imagination. Maybe your little one will pretend they’re a farmer, feed felt carrots to their stuffed horses, or happily create and share a fresh 4-course felt meal. Whatever they do or dream, I hope they go at it with all their heart! Enjoy!

Frequently asked questions

Care instructions

Eco-fi felt can be washed using warm water with a mild detergent. Items should be left to air dry (tumbling in a dryer can cause the surface to pil). I use Woolite to help care for the fibers, place them in a delicate garment bag, and hang them by their stems or place them on a wire rack to dry.

If you have any care questions, please do not hesitate to contact us!

Gift wrapping and packaging

Please contact me if you have specific gift packaging requests. Most items sold in sets will be packaged in a clear, recyclable, poly bag with a ribbon tie closure.
