Frustrated Pisces Finds Creative Outlet in One-of-a-Kind Jewelry Making
I was born in "The City" (New York), bred in Connecticut (boring!) So, I went to college, heard what they had to say, came back home, went to Israel, lived there in the good old days when self-sufficiency and enthusiasm, equality and joy were their long suits, got back Stateside and ... somehow ... got caught in that 9 to 5 cog. I was tracking to become a legal secretary extraordinaire, but LIFE got in the way! Beautiful daughter and seven lucky years later, I started off again. Got in with an interesting sustainable energy company, but it turned into a paper-shuffling grind, a carousel I just had to get off ...
A dear friend who had been in the jewelry business for years suggested I try my hand at making jewelry. Thus, I have been trying to perfect my art for a few years now and have been happily fulfilling my deepest dream along the way: to create beauty, to connect with the Earth, to honor my progenitors and my mentors with unique, one-of-a-kind pieces of wearable art. And to tell stories! Along the way I've discovered that the more I give of myself to my creativity, and to run my business, the more I receive. It's all true!!
How do I create something? I think my whole life I've been searching for a way to recreate and complement my favorite childhood haunt: a huge boulder nestled in the forest next to our house, with a sweet indentation that held water after the rain and to which the birds flew for a cool drink and a bath after a hot Connecticut summer's afternoon. I would go there to write in my journal and contemplate the joy and angst of life in the 60s. Most of my jewelry seems to want to belong around the necks, the wrists and on the ears of people who love such singular rocky secludes and remember, perhaps pine for, some aspects of simpler days and nights; people for whom Nature's ephemera are the true jewels, indeed, whether simple and elegant or bold and passionate as reflected in her stones, rocks and natural minerals, combined with such of man's inventions as are found suitable to the purpose.
As for the actual making of these pieces of creativity, I have many dreams that flash into my waking brain and I will then search to fulfill them, but I will also walk into one of my favorite bead shops and my eye will land upon a gorgeous bead that stops me in my tracks - I know I have to have it! The wheels start to spin as I mentally go through my inventory, mulling over sets of beads. Is the color right, is the texture right, is the proportion right? Is it a statement? Does it surprise or calm? Is it bold or sublime? What is going on in the world today? What is timelessness? What beads encompass the opposite nature that this bead embodies? What is the story that, visually, is surfacing in this creation? I listen to the beads to tell me their story.... ancient and modern ... and they never lie.
I never follow trends (trends, schmends, what's a trend?) but seek to fulfill the visions dancing in my head wherever they come from - hither and yon, present, past or future.
I am fabulously thrilled when those designs speak to and resonate with someone else in this wondrous - and challenging - world of ours.
I donate 10% to The Whiskers' Syndicate on every item that sells for $12.00 and above.

INTERNATIONAL FIRST CLASS SHIPPING IS $10.00 up to three items (or 4 ounces total), unless buyer convos me prior to purchase and requests a quote to their specific destination with the number of items they intend to purchase.
I ship via USPS (US Postal Service) using their first-class domestic or international mail service in a bubble wrapped, secure, small package as my standard shipping procedure. Delivery confirmation for domestic shipping is included in price of shipping. Insurance costs, should you request it, will be an extra charge based on actual value of goods unless included in the price of postage. For Priority Mail, there is an upgrade feature on the checkout page. For jewelry pieces, the item is placed in a colorful organza bag or decorative cardboard mailer or sturdy gift box, ready for gift-giving or storage.
You will receive an email when item(s) have been shipped with details of your purchase.
*INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: USPS (US Postal Services) is increasing postage by 100% on January 27th, 2013. Unfortunately, my shipping or retail list prices must reflect this increase to some degree. Very modest shipping charges will be included for most countries in Europe, North, Central and South America. Other charges will apply as calculated based on country of destination. If I do not receive an email or Etsy convo from international buyers BEFORE purchase, the shipping charges will be as stated on the listed item.
Combined shipping may be used by convoing me BEFORE first purchase to advise me that you intend to or may buy several more items within a five business-day period (Mondays thru Fridays, US legal holidays excepted). Otherwise, I will ship items out by the third business day after verified receipt of payment. (I.e., payment received and verified: day 1. Shipment made by business day 2 or day 3 at the latest.) Please let me know if you require a quicker delivery date and I will make sure I ship the same day that payment and address are verified.
Any international customs, duty or taxes that may be owed on a package will be the responsibility of the purchaser.

Repairs: Please remember that as with all delicate handmade jewelry, storage, maintenance and care is required to keep them in good condition. However, if anything breaks or needs repair, I will do so as my stock permits. Pricing for repairs is based on time and supplies needed. Simple repairs (determined at inspection) will be free of charge but will incur return shipping charges to you. Any repair that necessitates new materials or quality upgrades will incur nominal charges, plus the return shipping. Return shipping (and any insurance necessary) to me will be at the buyer's expense. Please contact me prior to shipping anything in return, for a full discussion of the problem and whether it is expedient for me to repair the item for you or whether some other solution is more appropriate.
That all said, I've never had any customer return any piece or contact me regarding anything broken, so this was posted just to address that issue should it come up :)
