About Tatterworks

Sales 19
On Etsy since 2018

Welcome to Tatterworks

I learned to sew on my Mother’s Singer featherweight (the cool black one) when I was 7 years old and have been sewing ever since. I discovered the use of pre-loved sweaters and upcycling from the artist Katwise in upstate NY, but have adapted my own style to this art form. Every Tatterworks piece is a one of a kind garment of wearable art made from recycled wool sweaters, cotton sweaters, or cotton t-shirts, and chiffon from dresses found in thrift shops.

Everything is  made by my hands. I love the interplay between texture, color, and pattern which makes designing each piece a challenge but so much fun. I have a huge stash of sweaters that I arrange by color and fiber and when one or two speak to me I pull them out and start mixing and matching the others. It can take days to get the right mix before I start cutting and sewing.

I sell at Juried craft shows in Vermont, and here on Etsy.
