About taylorceramics

Sales 1,627
On Etsy since 2009

Taylor Ceramics started as an exploration of form with no rules or limits.

I started Taylor Ceramics in 2008, 7 years after getting my BFA in ceramics from the University of Delaware. Interested in a variety of construction methods, I divide my time between working on the potter's wheel and hand building with slabs using mostly porcelain, sometimes stoneware. I work within a group of forms that are consistent but that also allow for elements of spontaneity. The The element of LINE is a consistent thread in my functional wares - sometimes literally through the addition of stitched linen thread and often through the additional or subtraction of clay on the surface of a piece. I keep my color palette simple- I use a glaze called coke bottle clear on almost everything which is a transparent glaze with a hint of blue-green. This creates a cohesive look and allows me to almost exclusively focus on the subtle sculptural and linear details of each form.

I love throwing & hand building with thin porcelain slabs. I focus on simple lines and forms with subtle, delicate details. I'm also a part-time public school art teacher & when I'm not in my studio I am quilting, swimming, baking or basket weaving.

Shipping

Due to the fragile nature of ceramics, great care is taken to ensure that your purchase arrives safely in one piece. Most domestic orders are shipped USPS Priority Mail (with delivery confirmation and insurance) within the time frame indicated for your specific item. If you need expedited shipping or would like signature confirmation please send me a conversation with your address before you make your purchase so that I can add the additional shipping charge.

For international orders, I ship USPS International Priorty Mail. The international shipping charges for all single items start at $20 US dollars. These prices reflect the size and weight of the packages.

*I use recycled egg crates that I get at a local bakery and other recycled materials in an effort to make the packing/shipping process as green as possible. Your item will arrive in a sturdy box with a variety of materials to keep the ceramics safe from breakage.

Additional policies and FAQs

Due to the handmade process each piece is truly unique. There are slight variations and many times you are not receiving the photographed piece, it is simply a representation. Please email me if you have questions about an item or policy.
