5 out of 5 starsMy daughter loved her birthday present. She couldn’t believe someone hand-made her dress and while I was expecting this to be more for dress-up/around the homestead, she’s already in worn it to the movies! Love it.

The Scarlet Thread is a family operated business that began in 2003.
The Scarlet Thread is a family operated business that began in 2003. We first began selling our hand sewn clothing at local farmers' markets and craft shows. In 2006 we launched our website and since then have sold our merchandise all over the US and around the world! Everything is sewn here in upstate New York by our family.
When we began our business our entire family, mom (Donna) and daughters (Sarah, Hannah and Rachel) sewed for The Scarlet Thread. At that time we offered clothing for ladies and handbags in addition to our line of children's clothes. In recent years Hannah and Rachel have both pursued businesses of their own in sewing and baking.
Currently Donna and Sarah sew all of the orders received through their business The Scarlet Thread. Both ladies love all things old-fashioned and share a great interest in history.
Donna specializes in designing European and Pioneer clothes for children. She loves adding special touches of embroidery to outfits. Sarah answers emails and runs the website. Sarah hopes to add some new historical dress styles and baby clothes to their website and Etsy page in the near future.
