Announcement   Welcome to tcEclectic Images on Etsy, specializing in vintage antique textile art and fine art photography featuring images captured while travelling in India.

Textile art, like a good painting or a photograph, is just that, best appreciated on a wall with proper lighting. The aesthetic encountered in tribal weavings as well as silk embroidery documents a lost language as the symbols and composition encompass the myths and mythology of these people. There are three important things to remember while viewing a tribal weaving. The first is color, the second is color and last but not least, COLOR!

I also host a 'group' on Facebook that some might find interesting with background information as well as historical images of textiles and the people who made/used them. The group, with more than 1300 members, is regarded by many as a valuable resource as well as a model for the approach taken to presentation with easily accessible information for the "general public". - https://www.facebook.com/groups/200245731062/

India is a colorful land that has been oft photographed from the 19th century onwards. I have attempted to capture "the wonder that was India", and still is if one knows where to look. As a frequent visitor to the subcontinent, the splendor and spectacle of the subcontinent no longer fazes me as I focus on details of daily life in that land in an attempt to capture timeless images. The most frequent comment on these photographs is that they look like paintings. Part of that is the printing process - printing on matte paper that absorbs the ink rather than a slicker paper that too often will also reflect light. The surface of the photographs is inviting and warm rather than one dimensional and cold as the results on glossy paper can be.

Enjoy viewing these items on offer now, and if there is nothing you see here now, please do consider coming back as I will be listing fresh material off and on.

Thank you!

Thank you for viewing my 'shop' here on Etsy. The material on offer is a combination of textile art, fine art photography and decorative weavings for use in the home. With more than 30 years of experience and more than 40 years of travel, my eye for art has developed, for the most part, through my experiences overseas. Selectively buying has allowed me to offer rare, exotic, and beautifully decorative textiles and weavings in addition to an array of unusual photographs taken in various locales on the Indian subcontinent.
