About

wedding invitations that are truly you.

my very first wedding invitations were for my own special day in april of 2007. they were immaturely designed and printed at kinkos on some pretty sad cardstock...but they were mine and they were beautiful.

from there i began creating wedding invitations for family and friends from my basement (okay not really, but everything's more awesome when it's made in a basement), working with handwriting, custom illustrations, and fabrics...and learning all about paper weights, archival inks and scoring.

five years later and a passion has blossomed inside me for layered, textural invitations that convey the richness and depth of a wedding and that, above all, are completely, entirely, fantastically you. i think a wedding should be a perfect reflection of all the uniquenesses of a beautiful couple, and that the stationery is the first piece of that—literally. a save the date or invitation is the very first piece of your wedding that the guests will see.

i also believe very much in keeping my prices as low as possible. i have no intention of designing invitations for outrageously-priced weddings, but rather want to make outrageously gorgeous invitations for the very averagely-priced wedding.

i'm so honored to be a part of your special day and vow to give you my undivided attention until the very end. i know how important your wedding stationery is, and i can't wait until your guests see how crazy-gorgeous it is, as well!

contact me anytime through etsy or by emailing me at tealtypewriter{at}gmail.com

{ details }

for invitations :: sets include the invitation, response card, all necessary envelopes and any complementary pieces (tags, ties, wraps, etc.) additional cards can absolutely be added, the pricing is detailed within the individual listing. everything is always customizable (there just may be a price!), so if you have something in mind just let me know!

it is my primary goal to create beautiful wedding invitations at an affordable price — i think even averaged-priced weddings deserve the most beautiful things. therefore, i've come up with a somewhat complicated pricing structure to keep the price as low as possible.

for *most* designs...

if you love the set just as it is and don't need any changes beyond your information (names, date, location, etc.) and possibly minor changes to the wording, all you need to do is multiply the cost listed on the sample by the quantity needed to come up with your total!

however, if you'd like some more major changes to your wording, it takes me a bit of time to adjust the design and layout accordingly, and so i have to charge you for that time—a one-time $30 flat fee.

if you'd also like some changes to the fonts and/or colors, that takes me a bit more time, and so the one-time fee goes up to $70. you can tell me about your wedding, send me images, colors, a link to your pinterest board, etc. and i'll create for you three options to choose and play from.

if you're looking for some major changes to the design or layout, an added element (like a custom graphic, etc.), that will require me to change the design entirely, that takes me a lot of time, and thus the one-time fee can go up to $150. again, there's a detailed consult in which you elaborate on what you're wanting, we'll swap images and pinterest boards, etc. and you'll get plenty of proofs.

then, you can always add cards — from maps to accommodations to a cover page — the pricing of those depends of the design (since the design dictates what's possibly involved, like stitched flowers or gilded edges) and is detailed in the individual listing.

the hope in all of this is that if you aren't wanting to change anything to the design already created, you're not having to pay for that, while if you're looking to make some changes, you will be able to do so for a small fee.

for save the dates, programs, thank you cards, etc. :: please see the listing for the individual pricing details and possible changes.

{ revisions }
no matter what degree of changes you make to the initial design, i'm happy to make as many rounds of revisions as needed to any pieces. i want you to be perfectly, entirely satisfied!

{ custom design work }
if you love my "look" but don't find something that perfectly matches the style of your wedding, i love doing custom designs! after all, i want you to have wedding stationery that is completely, entirely, fantastically you!

there is a one time, non-refundable, $150 custom design and illustration fee, payable at the onset of the design process. that fee serves as a deposit, and then we'll do extensive consults, i'll get your pinterest boards, find out what you've seen that you love, swap ideas and come up with something perfect! beyond the design fee, pricing often compares to that of what's already listed in my shop, depending on what we decide to include.

teal typewriter studios reserves the rights to all designs created on a custom basis. if you’re interested, simply convo me or send an email to tealtypewriter {at} gmail.com!

Payment
{ process }
items listed in the shop are all samples. order as many as you would like — i'm happy to ship them together!

to place an order, simply send an etsy convo with the design you’d like, the estimated quantity, your wedding date, and any additional thoughts or comments. we'll chat about what you're looking for, and to get things started, i'll send you a link to a custom listing for a required non-refundable 50% as well as a form to collect all your fabulous details such as wording and colors and such.

once the deposit and wording has been received, i'll get to work on your proof! i complete proofs and get them to you within a week, and we work together to make changes until you are completely satisfied.

once I have your final approval, i'll create another custom order for the remaining 50% of your balance. this payment is required to begin printing, and once it's received, no further changes can be made without incurring redesign costs, so it’s really, really important that you thoroughly read your proofs prior to signing for approval.

upon approval, teal typewriter studio waives responsibility for any errors, including layout, typesetting, format, grammar, spelling, punctuation or otherwise. if you should choose to reprint after final approval is given, you will be responsible for all costs for production and printing.

{ timing }
as of january 1, 2014, i will be implementing a new timing structure...

.......

** all orders ship on the 15th and 30th of every month (or the weekday before that date) and require at least 30 days to complete **

.......

for orders to ship on the 15th, i *must* receive your deposit and wording/details by the 15th of the previous month. (i use an online form to collect your wording/details that i get to you when i get you the link to your deposit.) so if you would like for your invitations to ship on june 15th, you will need to submit your deposit and wording no later than may 15th. if your deposit and/or wording is not submitted by midnight of the necessary date, there is no guarantee your order will ship on the 15th, and will instead most likely ship with the next shipping period (the 30th, as long as your everything is submitted in time for that shipping period.)

for orders that will ship on the 15th,
i will get you your proofs on the 22nd of the month prior to shipping,
you will have at least seven days for as many changes and edits as you would like (see note below),
final approval and payment by the last day of the month prior to shipping. if i don't receive your approval by midnight of the last day of the month, there's no guarantee that your order will ship in time, and will instead possibly ship with the next shipping period.

.......

for orders to ship on the 30th, i *must* receive your deposit and wording/details by the 30th (or last day) of the previous month. (i use an online form to collect your wording/details that i get to you when i get you the link to your deposit.) so if you would like for your invitations to ship on june 30th, you will need to submit your deposit and wording no later than may 31st. if your deposit and/or wording is not submitted by midnight of the necessary date, there is no guarantee your order will ship on the 30th, and will instead most likely ship with the next shipping period (the 15th of the next month—in the case of the example, july) as long as your everything is submitted in time for that shipping period.)

for orders that will ship on the 30th,
i will get you your proofs on the 7th of the month prior to shipping,
you will have seven days for as many changes and edits as you would like (see note below),
and i *must* receive the final approval and payment by the 14th of the month prior to shipping. if i don't receive your approval by midnight of the 14th, there's no guarantee that your order will ship in time, and will instead possibly ship with the next shipping period.

.......

for RUSH orders, if i receive your deposit and wording/details by the 15th, your order will ship out on the 30th. if i receive your deposit and wording/details by the 30th, your order will ship out on the 15th. however, i will *require* you to follow this timeline in order for those dates to be adhered to:

deposit/information by the 15th,
you will receive proofs on the 18th,
i require approval/final payment by the 22nd,
your order will ship on the 30th.

deposit/information by the 30th,
you will receive proofs on the 3rd,
i require approval/final payment by the 7th,
your order will ship on the 15th.

-- the exception to these rush timelines is custom orders, design no. 02, and design no. 10. please see the pages for those designs for their specific rush policies and timelines --

most rush orders are an additional 25% of your total order, with a minimum of $100. however, please be sure to check the individual listing for specifics.

.......

note about edits and changes :: please know that i am not available 24 hours a day to make edits and changes. you are welcome to as many changes as you would like, but we may not have the timing available to us to make that many changes. when you get me a message with a set of changes, i will respond within 24 business hours if i have any questions, and/or will respond within 48 business hours with the modified proofs. i often get back to you before then, but cannot guarantee it. therefore, within a seven-day period of editing, there may only be time for a maximum of 3-4 sets of changes.

.......

additional pieces and/or services such as assembly and envelope addressing won't slow down production; however, elements of those services (guest addresses, pictures, etc.) will need to be submitted by the same deadline as your deposit and wording, or else your order will need to be pushed back.

major changes to the design, alternative papers, colors, etc., or other changes also may push back timing. if you're unsure and concerned about timing, let me know and i'll confirm dates for you.

.......

samples ship every friday.

.......

custom samples will ship with the shipping period that follows by at least 15 days. so if you have submitted your wording and payment by the 30th, your custom sample will ship by the 15th (as long as approval is obtained by the 14th.) please see the individual listing for custom samples pricing and details.

.......

according to the professionals, save-the-dates should be mailed 6-8 months prior to your wedding and invitations should go out 8-10 weeks before the event. additional items such as programs, menus, table numbers, favor tags & thank yous should be obtained 4 weeks prior to the event.

Additional policies and FAQs
{ a note about postage }
based on my experience, the postage required to ship these invitations can vary greatly. one of the ways the usps determines cost of postage is by thickness, and to do so a slot is used to pass the envelope through to determine how much they charge — the more difficult the envelope is to pass through the slot, the more postage. However, the test is quite subjective and you may have one person tell you one thing while another will tell you something else. Sometimes only one standard stamp is needed, sometimes much more than that. The best way to be sure of the amount of postage you will need before receiving your order, is to order a sample and take that to the post office.
