About TeaPartyOfTheDamned

Sales 312
On Etsy since 2020

Death gets around just fine without any help from me.

Processing always begins with a wash. I am as gentle as if bathing my own pet. I don't know if these creatures have a soul, or if it's still hanging around or cares about my intentions, but I have myself a little conversation with the body. It starts with acknowledging my own sadness that we are here, like this. I promise them that I will do my best to honor them in death, and that I mean no disrespect. I often find myself talking to them again if I notice old injuries or pathologies.

That I have feelings about each of these animals, care about their dignity, and end up talking to them should not be your first indication that I may be a bit odd.

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

I'm often available for commissions. Just ask.
My ability to fulfill your custom request will depend on availability of the animal you want. Since I don't and won't kill for your entertainment, I am limited to the animals I receive from farmers, donated pet deaths, road kill, and nuisance controlled animals.

Commissions are not eligible for coupon discounts. After a design consultation a sketch will be presented. If you wish to go forward, I require a 20% deposit. The rest is due when your piece is ready to ship.

Care instructions

For mummified and taxidermied pieces, keep dry and out of direct sunlight. Don't allow your pets out children to chew. Occasionally dust with canned air or a cool hair dryer.

For kokedama and other plant pieces, follow care instructions for light and water given in the listing.

Gift wrapping and packaging

If you are ordering as a gift and would like a special note included, shoot me a message. I'm happy to accommodate.

Wholesale availability

No. But I can sometimes provide you with bulk orders of mummified parts. Just ask.

What does "ethically sourced" mean?

Ethics are personal.
My art does not contribute to the death.Animals are killed for our food supply & I use what's left over. They die unexpectedly on farms,in pet stores, our homes,& in nature.I work with animal based businesses & am happy to take dead things off their hands. It's always an exciting day when I run across a usable corpse while hiking or kayaking!Roadkill is in abundance, but due to the nature of those injuries & decomposition speed on hot pavement,it's not often usable for my mummies or taxidermy.
Regrettably, sometimes critters are killed because they endanger other animals or humans.I take those as well.
I know exactly where every animal comes from & am happy to tell you if you behave questions about any specific piece.

Are the dolls haunted?

I don't know. I have no psychic powers, so they don't talk back to me. But by the time you receive one, it will be built with parts of a formerly living creature, so maybe treat it with the reverence you would any item you suspect could reanimate or haunt.
