    About TeaPetsCurios

Every step is important. Every detail is worth it. The macabre is beautiful.

Tea Pet's Curios started back in Halloween time of 2016 when I realized that I needed a better (read: 20% cooler) storage option for my perfume samples. My very first coffin was for my Conjure Oil's Goth Chick Pride perfume. I purchased a simple plain, unfinished, pine wood coffin and went to work to change it into something unrecognizable in the best way! After that coffin was done, my friends started requesting that I make coffins for them to hold their dice for table top games. Soon, it appeared that I had become a mini business. XD

A lot of work goes into each coffin. Here's a quick rundown.

    1) Sand the living h*#l out of every single side, interior and exterior.
    2) Sand it again with finer and finer grades until it feels like velvet.
    3) Measure the interior to make sure that the fabric linings will fit.
    4) Allocate two days to creating the fabric lining.
    5) (Optional) Allocate two days to creating the perfume inserts and ensuring fit.
    4) First coat of stain.
    5) Wait for it to dry for two-three days.
    6) Second coat of stain.
    7) Wait for it to dry for two-three days.
    8) (Optional) Sometimes more stains are required.
    9) Apply polyurethane coating.
    10) Wait for it to dry for three days.
    11) Apply polyurethane coating to all other sides.
    12) Wait three days for it to dry.
    -Meanwhile (during stages 4-12)-
    13) Start on the sculpture that will be going on the exterior
    14) Take up to one week to finish the sculpture and fire it.
    15) Once the wood is dry, place the fabric linings inside and clamp them to ensure adhesive sticks well. Wait three days for the adhesive to stick well.
    16) Add the hardware back to the coffin.
    17) Adhere the sculpture to the exterior of the coffin and manually press down to ensure that it sticks.

The amount of time and care that goes into each and every coffin or box that I create means a lot to me and I hope that it will mean a lot to you.
