Everyone has a story to tell and I just love to hear other people’s stories. I am excited to think that Teegy Togs adds just a tiny bit of fun, fancy and comfort to babies and toddlers lives. It fills my heart and lifts my spirits when I see photos of kiddies wearing Teegy Togs. I like to imagine smiles when packages arrive and are opened. While everyone has their own tales to tell, here’s a bit of mine.

I made my first clothing when I was a kid, sewing doll clothes by hand. When I had real life dolls I sewed for them for a few years but never thought I got it quite right. I was too impatient. I moved from sewing needles to typewriting keys and eventually computer keys and turned my hand at writing articles and essays for magazines. But my fingers were itchy; they needed to be flexed a little more.

A few years ago my daughters were married, within a year of the other, and before long each had brought a little boy into the world. My girls loved dressing their little boys in leggings for comfort and for style. They wondered if I could make the wee guys some. I dusted off my sewing machine, found a new world of amazing knit fabrics and within a short time had purchased a couple of sergers. Sewing excitement returned with more passion than I could have imagined. And then another baby came along, Tegan Clare. My sewing and serging machines stared working overtime. I adored these new little babes and enjoyed creating little clothes, however I was making more than they could wear! So, I tested the online retail waters and was hooked. Ready to open my shop I struggled with its name. I played around with a combo of all my grandbabes’ names but then 'Teegy Togs' fell off the tip of my tongue. Teegy, was after newborn Tegan and Togs cuz, well, clothes and all.

I am continually sourcing new knits, luscious, easy care, eco-friendly fabrics. Teegy Togs are made from either soft, jersey knit - 95% cotton and 5% spandex or organic cotton interlock knits. Never (ever) polyester. I try to source all my fabrics from Canadian distributors and the jersey knit fabrics in my shop bear the OEKO-TEX certification, a voice for human rights and sustainable, safe practices.
