I really really love this necklace. Seriously I had been waiting for it since I ordered and everything about it is perfect. Except the length of the chain. I added loops myself and made it longer for me, but otherwise it is perfect! Thank you for my elvish fireheart 🖤⚔

About

"One should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art.” — Oscar Wilde

The appeal of metalsmithing is a particularly singular one — because of the relative immutability of metal, the craft not only requires a skill that is equal parts artistic grace and brute force, but the end product itself is something that is truly timeless, never depreciating in either luster or value, and is often passed down through generations. While a beautifully made piece of fabric, or wood, or glass, or any work of art of a perhaps subtler craft may in themselves be beautiful and well-made, they will never become heirlooms in the way jewelry does. Furthermore, because of the scarcity and preciousness of the material used, the artistic act of creation becomes doubly focused and intentional; when a thing is cast in gold, it can be assured that the artisan took much time in its planning and execution. There is no eraser that the craftsman can rely on or second draft. When we look to the achievements of a past culture, or try to understand it through their material rather than intellectual remnants, it is usually through the stone and metal works that they fashioned and have survived — what their lives were like, what their values were, and what was truly important to them.

I originally was attracted to working with steel, creating knives, swords, body armor, hauberks and the like — it was only later that I realized that it was the beauty and detail of the pieces, the small cultural or historical significance imbued in the weapons, rather than their utilitarian functions, that I was truly drawn to. Jewelry was the natural recourse for someone with such inclinations.

I began making jewelry at the beginning of 2015, and have done it so consistently when not busy with university.I work and design from my home and am for the most part self-taught. My pieces are 100% designed and handmade by myself, using traditional silversmithing techniques such as piercing, sawing, hammering, and soldering. My works primarily consist of sterling silver, with the occasional addition of gemstones and crystals, or copper and brass, to add color and contrast. My decision to primarily work with these materials comes from an appreciation of not only the beauty of precious metals such as silver, but also an appreciation - borne out of my blacksmithing days - for the beauty and versatility of these other base metals. Furthermore, I aim to create pieces that are not only unique and timeless in themselves, and will last a lifetime, but are at an affordable price, and I always have this in mind when I am designing.

This last point is perhaps one of the main motivations for me in opening my shop and selling jewelry: I believe that jewelry — real, authentic, and unique jewelry — should be something that every person, regardless of status or gender, should be able to wear and enjoy.

I do not believe that jewelry should be the luxury of the privileged.
