This baby dish accomplished my goal of keeping a sick kitty's food warm until she ate it all..

What's the whimsical without the weird?

I dunno where my sister and I got it. Our love of the strange. My mother, bless her, is weird in her own way...but not as into diseased deer statues and other oddities as we are. I guess, if I had to put my finger on it, I would have to say it's all my dad's fault. Niki and I grew up surrounded by dead fish in formaldyhyde, the skeletal remains of rock fish and TONS of shrunken styrofoam cups.

It was an amazingly weird childhood. My sister's love of the weird shows through in her personal artwork and collections...and mine seems to be showing up here on Etsy.

I've recently found myself wondering the isles of vintage stores lately...falling in love with strange objects. Art pieces that are slightly horrifying...statues that kind of looked diseased (a reference to the deer statue above and currently listed in the shop).

I've made a rule for myself. It doesn't come into my house unless I, personally, have fallen in love with it. Granted, this makes selling these items all the more painful, but it also means that I am not selling junk. I bring the items home, lovingly clean them, photograph them, and post them online. Then I pray NO ONE WILL WANT TO BUY THEM!!!

So? That's the story of Deer Abbey. A VERY strange and whimsical little corner of the Etsy-verse. So feel free to browse around, touch and feel, buy IF you must. *sigh*

Also, be sure to visit me on my blog!:

If you DO decided to buy one of my many curios, be sure to send me photos of your new treasure. I would love to feature you on the blog!

I've been a photographer, humor blogger and teacher for nearly 10 years...and I'm ready to put my energy into an outlet! (I sound like a lamp plug.) And what's a better outlet than shopping, antiquing and pretty wrapping??!! There is none.
