About

Unique Fine Art Photography

I find photography extremely relaxing, something amazing that can be done anywhere and at any time! The ability to capture a moment and make it meaningful makes photography such a powerful art.

When I was 15 years old I received a smartphone and would play with the camera on it and take photos of flowers and clouds, even though my images were flat out bad now that I look back at them, they were the spark of a passion I would soon start to develop. After about a year or so I received my first DSLR, a Nikon D5100 and started improving my skills and techniques, but I had no specific focus on subjects, this camera was what truly got my photography started, fast forward 2 more years and I purchased my first camera on my own, a Nikon D7000, this camera allowed me to fine tune my style and let me work a little faster, but for some reason I had not found "the subjects" I liked to photograph, I was very good at flower photography but had no real macro lens so I used a set of filters and a prime lens to get close with decent results, by this point I was already selling multiple images on Etsy. Living in Miami, there were no breathtaking landscapes or variations in geography, the closest drive to find mountains is about 12 hours away. Eventually I decided that my Nikon was too big for me to take everywhere, I wanted a camera that would be fun to use and could fit in a small bag or in my car's arm rest to take everywhere. After lots of saving I bought a Fujifilm XT1, and fell instantly in love, the way the camera worked allowed me to reach full potential and have so much fun with my photography,a couple months after getting the camera, I bought a 2:1 macro lens, I had finally found my specialty in photography.

Macro flower photography allows me to show what the world looks like from the viewpoint of a small insect, to show the hidden details that we can't see with our eyes, transforming tiny flowers into huge valleys and structures makes macro photography so rewarding for me, the huge challenge of lighting, wind and getting into strange positions to capture an image make each shot unique and turns itself into a story. The most challenging part is getting correct focus, since I hand hold the camera for each shot to get multiple perspectives at low angles, the smallest movement or breeze will make the whole image go out of focus, but I love every minute I spend with my camera outdoors!
