Note from shop owner Hi! I am on vacation until further notice! There is a lot going on in the cloth pad community regarding the FDA witch hunt for cloth pad makers and such. I'm trying to hold onto the idea of still selling but can't grasp it due to the said witch hunt and people turning on each other :( So until I make a decision, I'm going to put the shop on vacation to see what I can do. I just don't have the time to sew (even for myself!) and college is my priority now.

Thanks for your understanding, patience, and support. It means a lot!
I just wanted to say a big thank you and a big hug to all the friends and customers that have supported me! Thanks to my customers especially for supporting my sewing hobby and your kind and encouraging words. I wouldn't have continued further without the great feedback! My sewing skills have dramatically improved since I opened, I'm incredibly grateful and thankful for that! It could be time to move on.

If you are looking for some great cloth pads, I highly recommend Yurtcraft and Mimi's Dreams! They'll hook you up with some great fluff!

Best wishes for the new year! Yea-yah!

About

Began sewing cloth pads!

When I first began sewing a few years ago, my love and interest for cloth menstrual pads grew. I initially thought they were nasty until I looked into them further after having problems with disposables. It's been a great experience for me. I made a few designs here and there, and my sewing skills have dramatically improved since then. I do not just sell cloth pads (and their accessories). I've been using cloth pads since I switched in 2008!

Sewing is not just cloth pads for me! It's also a hobby I adore and I sew other projects. This little etsy shop help supports my pricey sewing hobby. I sew in my tiny bedroom which has limited space surrounded by gorgeous fabrics and threads. When I am not sewing for the shop, I'm busy sewing for myself or studying. All my products are made with love, careful thought and attention to detail. I'm very picky with my sewing, even for myself!

I make cloth pads based on what I would buy along with their prices. I try to offer variety because women are all diverse with different menstrual flows and tastes in fabrics. Using bamboo fleece and other natural absorbent fabrics are very important to me.
I also occasionally offer one-of-a-kind pads with embroidery like jellyfish, bird, flowers, etc! Whatever creative mood I am in :) I try not to make tons of items because I care about quality and it can get incredibly overwhelming when there is too much to sew.

Why the name "thatpinksack!"? I wanted a name that was totally quirky and random. I also wanted something that referred to the humble uterus. The uterus is pink and it is a "sack". Some ladies hate theirs and some admire it. I was fascinated with the uterus after taking Human Anatomy & Physiology courses!
Did you know that the Uterus is made up of 3 different layers? The very outside is the Perimetrium (holds it in place), the second layer is the Myometrium (which helps during birth), and the innermost is the ENDOMETRIUM! (The lining that you shed during your menses).
Neat huh?
:)

I hope variety, functionality, and affordability can brighten any period :)

Welcome to thatpinksack! Specializing in Cloth Menstrual Pads. I believe Menstruation is a natural process and should be taken care of naturally! Satisfy that pink sack! My mission is to offer affordable cloth pads using highly absorbent fabrics and comfortable functional fabrics.

I use designer cotton prints, cotton flannel prints, interlocks (like jersey), and organic textured fabrics for the tops of my pads :) All my products are made with love, careful thought and attention to detail. Everything is handmade so nothing is entirely perfect but I try :)

Products are made in a smoke-free but cat-friendly home.

--->Fabrics: All natural fiber fabrics are pre-washed and pre-shrunk. Nothing will shrink!
--->Snaps: KAM plastic snaps applied with KAM hand-held snap pliers.

--->Anti-Pill Polyester Fleece is mainly used for the back of the pad for water-resistance. Pads made with PUL/Procare (full layer) are also listed occasionally.

--->Construction: All of my pads are AIOs (all-in-ones) and are turned and top-stitched with a serged or zig-zagged edge inner core.
Light flow: (2) Cotton Flannel, (1) Bamboo fleece
Regular flow: (1) Cotton Flannel, (1) Bamboo fleece, (1) Organic Cotton French Terry
Heavy flow: (1) Cotton Flannel, (2) Bamboo Fleece, (1) Organic Cotton French Terry
***Bamboo Fleece is made of 70% Bamboo, 30% Organic Cotton fibers.

The combination of these fabrics makes for a very absorbent pad with quicker drying time. If you are concerned about a heavy flow and do not want to change as often, I recommend purchasing a regular or heavy flow pad. The more absorbent a pad is, the less you have to change, and the less pads you have to purchase/wash, saving you money and time :) Cloth pads with PUL (water-proof fabric) are even better for heavy flow as they are much thinner and can be worn longer.

Note: I no longer do custom orders and will NOT reserve listings. Very sorry for this inconvenience!

-------------------->[Washing Instructions]<--------------------

There are MANY ways to wash a cloth menstrual pad. To check them out visit: http://clothpads.org/washing.html

Note: NO BLEACH! NO FABRIC SOFTENER!

This is my preferred method as you do not need to rinse every individual pad. Soaking even for 1 day or a couple of hours makes the pads dramatically cleaner and removes most stains.
***Cloth pads that contain PUL or Procare as water-proofing fabrics can be machine washed and dried, no problems.

1.) Store all used pads/cloth wipes in a wetbag or cloth bag.
2.) At the end of the cycle fill a soaking container with warm/hot water and add some essential oil (either lavender or tea tree oil) and a scoop of oxyclean, or baking soda.
3.) Put all pads into the soaking container and move the pads around.
4.) Change the water one time a day until wash day, replacing any essential oils or stain removers if need be. (You can soak for one day and wash the next)
5.) Wash with whites in a mesh laundry bag (to prevent them from getting lost and makes them last longer) along with towels, bedding items, underwear, etc.
6.) Toss the pads in their mesh laundry bag into the dryer OR hang to air dry. Hanging them in the sun works great on stains and is environmentally friendly! If you cannot immediately wash after soaking, you can hang to dry and then wash.

Refunds and Exchanges
My mission is for customers to love their products and be happy with them! I sell products I work very hard to make.
- There are no exchanges or returns due to the nature of the items.
- However, if there is a problem with faulty sewing or a snap problem, I am here to help! Please do contact me. I can do replacements free of charge. Photos of defects are really helpful.
- Leakage is an issue I cannot assist in anymore. The cores for my pads are incredibly absorbent and so if leakage is an issue, I strongly recommend pads with PUL or Procare as water-proofing options. Polyester fleece doesn't work for every lady out there and PUL makes for thinner and almost leak-free pads.

If you are unsure of what to purchase, please contact me for advice ***before*** purchasing. This avoids a lot of confusion and extra costs.

***Staining is a natural occurrence that may come along with using natural fabrics for a cloth pad.*** Replacements don't go in accordance with this. Please read the Policies or Profile section for information on cloth pad washing.
***Wrinkling (especially with flat cotton topped pads) is to be expected. I carefully iron all of my fabrics, even the pads during making them. Wrinkling is totally natural as the fibers have "fluffed up" and ironing originally presses them down.
Different fabrics vary so staining, fading, pilling, and wear my occur. Flannel wears with age, but it still stays comfortable.
