Where Eco-Friendly Meets Artisan

Welcome, and thanks for stopping by! I’m Kelli, owner, designer and creator of Ecotopia. Here I combine two of my great passions: sewing and eco-friendly living. I believe that eco-friendly products can be both functional and beautiful, and I incorporate that premise into all of my creations. Being eco-friendly doesn’t have to be about huge lifestyle changes. It can start as simply as saving money (and trees) by replacing paper towel waste with reusable Unpaper Towels, or switching disposable plastic sandwich bags with my washable and reusable sandwich bags.

I was raised to be mindful of waste, whether it be disposable convenience items or what’s in my wallet. We used what we had, from threadbare bath towels that became rags to old fashioned sack cloths for drying dishes in the kitchen. If I can wash it and reuse it, it’s a win-win! But an added artisan touch can turn utilitarian rags and towels into kitchen décor and conversation pieces.

I love creating eco-friendly products that are economical, thoughtful and beautiful. All of my designs are solutions to waste problems in my own home that I perfected over time, and they are built to last. I carefully research materials and thoroughly test all of my designs, and never skimp on quality to be able to produce in greater quantities. I also create in very small batches from limited edition prints, so that you will be sure to have a unique if not one-of-a-kind creation in your home.

A little about me… I have been a Tennessee resident for 20 years now, and live in Knoxville, near the mouth of the stunning Smoky Mountains. However, I’m a Florida native, and a beach girl at heart! I started sewing at a young age, designing my own Halloween costumes, and I became quickly obsessed with historical costuming. I fell in love with textiles and creative design, and continued sewing as a hobby while working on a BA and MA in English Literature (Books! My other great passion!). After a short time teaching I navigated again towards sewing, and opened Ecotopia. I love having a home here on Etsy, where I can focus solely on my own designs and connect closely with my customers and fellow artisans. Thanks for taking the time to learn a bit about me, and I’m always thrilled to answer product questions or help you create the perfect custom order!

Frequently asked questions

Why are your production times so long?

Every item you purchase from us is completely hand-crafted, from pre-shrinking fabrics before they are cut, to construction and detailed finishing. We take great pride and care in creating our products. They are meant to last for many years, which takes a little more time. We usually have a long queue of orders, so please understand that there are many open orders in front of yours and we create/ship in the order they are received. To remain fair, we don't allow customers to pay extra fees just to skip ahead of you in line. Thank you for your patience!

Is my product washer and dryer safe?

Yes! Every item we make is safe for your washer and dryer, and is constructed to handle frequent washings. Our products are built to last for many years!

Is your packaging eco-friendly?

We strive to use the most eco-friendly and mindful methods of getting your products to you, while also ensuring that they are safely packaged to avoid damage by the shipping carrier. All of our packaging materials are made from recycled or biodegradable materials, and they can be recycled again as well! We proudly use recycled/recyclable poly-mailers, recycled cardboard boxes, recycled kraft paper wraps, recycled/biodegradable ribbons, and paper tape.

Do you accept wholesale orders?

At this time, we are not accepting wholesale orders. Bulk pricing may be available on a case by case basis, but we do not offer wholesale pricing.
