It was October 2011 at a Purdue football game lugging several kids toward Ross-Ade Stadim that I told my friend, Natasha, I was taking her advice. I would be starting a sewing business as she had encouraged me to do. The hardest part, I thought, would be finding a name. However, that ended up being pretty darn easy. Sweetybird is a little nickname I gave my daughter when she was only a few months old. What better name for my shop than theSweetyBird, named after arguably the cutest thing I had ever laid eyes on.

I love sewing, finding beautiful, fun fabrics and storing them in my (almost packed full) fabric closet until I find the perfect use. I haven't bought a pattern in years! Waxed paper is always on hand, drawing and making my own patterns is so rewarding.

I am one of those people that gets an idea of what I want, go shopping, then come home disappointed and empty handed because nothing I saw measured up to my imagination. The ability to sew and craft allows me to make what I want but couldn't find with that special touch and one of a kind quality that only a handmade item can have. My hope is to bring items to you that are "just what you were looking for." Items from theSweetyBird are made with quality materials and craftsmanship is incomprable.
