This piece is much more vibrant than showed up on my monitor. It absolutely stands out and says "good morning, you must wear me today." It's a fabulous mix of antique and modern, and looks great with any solid color top you happen to have on. Or bare skin. And again, it's one of a kind, which is pretty darn outstanding.

This is a fantastic necklace! I adore being able to wear art--not in a Lady Gaga sort of way, but in a simple, understated way. The focal point being the tiny piece of art around my neck. Plus, it's one of a kind, and I LOVE knowing that no one else will ever have this same piece of jewelry/art. :)

I happen to love acrylic on canvas, and geometric shapes. This piece really has it all for me, and the dark background makes the colors truly come alive.

By far one of my favorite pieces, and I have come to find out it was once part of a three piece collection. While I would love to own the other two pieces as well, I am happy to have this one to brighten my surroundings. Little treasures abound, like faces and shapes emerging from various places within the structure.

I don't know much about Tori Amos, but I love the art she has inspired here. I love geometric pieces, and the way there's no specific pattern to it, but it still just flows. This is a small, wallet sized piece, but as I have mentioned before, it is awesome to be able to carry around with you the art that inspires. I love it.

This is another wallet size piece, and I bought three of them and have them all together. They complement each other very well, and they help me focus on the beauty that surrounds each of us on a daily basis.

It's like being at the ocean, without the wind or the noise. The truly beautiful thing about this is that you can almost hear the surf pounding in the background and feel the breeze blowing your hair back. Or lying in the grass, gazing up at the sky. Pure bliss.

Arrived early! This ring is gorgeous and adjustable, so can be worn on any finger. I love the way it looks and it doesn't pinch your fingers like some other adjustable rings out there. The best part is getting to wear a beautiful custom one of a kind piece of art!!

I feel privleged to have gotten this piece, as it is the artist's signature. It is beautiful, colorful, loud without being obnoxious. There are tiny hidden jewels in each piece, which I have thoroughly enjoyed discovering each day.

Beautiful colors, and this piece has a very calming effect. Versatile and a really nice addition to any room in your home. Or office.

About

maybe she's just pieces of me ....

my etsy name is inspired by a tori amos song - tear in your hand, from her little earthquakes album. one part of the lyrics is "maybe she's just pieces of me ..." - and tori's music plays most often when i paint. each painting, each piece of art is a piece of me. a piece of that moment. a piece of my emotions, a piece of whatever the person viewing my art is experiencing. it's this amazing exchange of life experiences in tiny, incremental slices.

they all tell their own stories, and they speak the languages the people enjoying them prefer to hear. they're multifaceted, fun to look at from different angles, and want to be touched.

i get a lot of my inspiration from music and what it does to me. i've always painted with music in the background, and i've almost always waited for the inspiration to find its way to me. it's not something i can push out, it's something i have to be open to receiving.

i only recently discovered that i have synesthesia, of the associator subtype - meaning things (mostly music) are associated with other things (mostly colour, sometimes textures & touch-sensations) in my head & body. for example, brass instruments make sounds that i think of as blue; while i don't see blue flashes of colour in front of me, in my 'real' vision, they feel blue ... and metallic and cold. some songs have heat without corresponding warm colours, some subtypes of music make my ribs itch on the inside, and sometimes songs can feel leathery or paper-thin.

not everything is always pleasantly interesting, though - "chopped and screwed" remixes (also called "slowed and throwed") absolutely distort my sense of time and space, and i'll either get nauseated or feel panic-attack-prone.

i also LOVE college football. gig'em aggies (class of 2001)
