About

Vintage GrainSack Handbags-Handmade Jewelry for the Urban Cowgirl-Vintage Finds

Hello. Thanks for taking time out to visit my About page.

I have been making handmade jewelry as a part time hobby since about 2006. Turquoise and sterling silver are my favorite materials and I am generally drawn to southwestern and rustic designs. My jewelry can be described as jewelry for the urban cowgirl.

I also incorporate vintage junk into some of my jewelry designs. In an effort to keep them out of the landfill, I give vintage silver plated and sterling spoons a new life by hammering them into spoon bracelets. I know what you are thinking and yes, I almost always hammer my own fingers in the process, but hey, it's worth it. My spoon bracelets are a fun and inexpensive way to spice up your outfit. They make great gifts too. Seriously, how many people have a spoon bracelet?

I have teamed up with my mom, an awesome seamstress, to make handmade bags, totes and purses from vintage items. We scour the Kansas City area for old grain sacks, feed sacks, quilts, and vintage fabrics to create one of a kind handmade bags, totes and purses. I am really enjoying spending this extra time with my mom and learning a little about sewing along the way. Convo me if you would like a custom made bag.

As a former antique dealer at a Kansas City antique mall, I have an attic full of vintage items. In an effort to clean out the attic, I am in the process of sorting through these items and will be listing many of them soon. If you are looking for something in particular, don't hesitate to ask as I just might have what you are looking for.

Thanks again for stopping by my shop! Hope you have a wonderful day!
