About

It started with my grandmother's button box.

Do you realize it only takes a moment in a childhood to make a lifelong impression? My whole career stems back to my grandmother's button box. My clever mother, back in the 1950's figured out the best way to make me stay still in bed when I was ill was to let me sort and examine all my grandmother's beautiful glass buttons (she had an AMAZING collection!) I would sift through and sort them, first by color, then size, then details such as their shapes, uniqueness, style, you name it. The process took hours, (to my mother's delight) and I never tired of the pasttime.
To this day I love perusing glass beads in the same way. Anytime, anywhere, if there are loose beads I can't help but look through them. EVEN WHEN I AM SICK OF WORK, and go to a shop to get out of my work mode, if I see some beads, I zoom toward them. This is why, although I graduated with a degree in psychology in 1974, I immediately became a jewelry designer in New York City.
Obviously as a result I have a vast private collection, but realizing I can't afford to keep everything I love, I buy beads to share with you too. Welcome to my store, the beadgoddess on etsy!
