About TheBeatofBlossoms

Sales 43
On Etsy since 2013

See the beat. Let your creativity blossom.

I began painting and creating mixed-media collage while in college. Soon after, I developed a love for printmaking, pattern design, textiles and bookbinding.

I enjoy making art, stationery and decor and I hope my pieces inspire you to be more expressive in your own lives.

I use environmentally-friendly materials and processes. Further, I design, cut, fold, print, and bind with care all journals, notebooks, cards, and prints in my home or at an art studio in the greater Washington, DC area.

I enjoy bookbinding and printmaking and make items with care! I design, cut, fold, print, and bind all journals/notebooks, cards, and prints by hand in my home or at an art studio in the greater Washington, DC area.

Exceptions are noted in item descriptions. For example, some of the fabric I use is printed by Spoonflower in North Carolina. Pillows and scarves are made with a sewing machine by a professional seamstress in the greater Washington, DC area.

ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY

Though I am not a certified green business, I try to use eco-friendly materials and processes. Please help recycle, reuse and reduce.

All of the text pages in my notebooks and journals are made from 100% recycled paper / 30% post-consumer waste (PCW). I purchase it from French Paper, a family-owned paper mill in Michigan that uses hydroelectric power.

The other types of paper I use – cover stock, watercolor paper, Lokta paper, mulberry paper and envelopes – are mostly recycled or sustainably harvested. It will vary based on the color and style of the paper. Information about recycled paper is noted in item descriptions.

Some of the fabric I use is printed by Spoonflower in North Carolina using eco-friendly, water-based pigment inks. The fabric has NOT been treated with fire retardant chemicals.

The screen printing ink I use is water-based and AP non-toxic (conforms to ASTM D-4236). The bookbinding adhesive I use is PVA (polyvinyl acetate), an acid-free, solvent free, water soluble and PH neutral bookbinding glue.

I ship materials using 100% recycled tissue paper and 100% recycled chipboard. 8”x10” screen prints are shipped in biodegradable cello sleeves. My business cards, invoices, product tags, gift notes, and bookmarks/freebies are printed on 100% recycled paper or paper that I have upcycled/reused.
