About

A bit about me

I am an American missionary wife and mom of 2 living in South Africa. Wooden beads dominate the shops here in SA, so I have created my own take on the statement necklace using this super popular material. It started with my own, then a few gifts to family back in the USA. I made a few as a fundraiser and the initial 26 different designs sold out in 3 hours and had orders for more than I could create before my trip to the States. The creation of The Bedecked Neck is my creative outlet, a fun way to share my take on the wood bead trend with the world, and a way to fund our lifestyle as a family on mission with Christian Surfers International. A side note to consider: all beads are hand made and painted so on occasion some beads will have their own natural marks. This adds to the character and charm of these fun and funky natural necklaces. Thanks for visiting!

Frequently asked questions
Will the paint come off on my clothes?

Thankfully, no! These wouldn't be much fun if you had to worry about your clothes.

How true are the colors in the photos?

I've done my utmost to photograph each design in natural lighting to showcase their true colors. I've also tried to carefully list each color used in a particular design so that you won't be surprised when your order arrives.

You describe these as hand made and hand painted, are there any flaws?

To be honest, there can be a few character adding marks in the wood. Since I'm working with all natural materials, there may be some "beauty marks" but I don't use any materials that would reduce the quality of any final product.

Why does the shipping take so long?

I am from the USA but currently living in South Africa, so I am using the South African Postal Service to ship your order. I've never had a package not arrive to its destination, but the speed of delivery has varied from 2 weeks to 4 weeks. On one occasion a package took 5 weeks for delivery. If you are concerned about delivery time, please contact me directly as I can arrange for courier delivery at additional cost.
